WALKERTON âÂ Randolph âRandyâ L. Verkler, 65, residing in Walkerton passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011 in Starke Memorial Hospital, Knox. He retired as an operating engineer with Local #150. Randy worked for more than 23 years for the St. Joseph County Highway Department as a supervisor. He also served as a reserve law enforcement officer with the Walkerton and Hamlet Police Departments.

BOURBON â Thelma Janet Hall, 97, of Bourbon passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. at home in the care of her family and Hospice.
Thelma was born the daughter of Urben Roahrig and Coral Banks Roahrig Nov. 27, 1914 at Bourbon. She was a resident of Bourbon all her life. She was a 1932 graduate of Bourbon High School. She was a homemaker, farmerâs wife and owned Hallâs Western Store of Bourbon for many years. She also worked at GMAC Associates of South Bend.

Gene Curtis, 81, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went to be with the Lord peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at 4:55 a.m. in Hospice House, South Bend. Gene was born Sept. 11, 1930 to Audley and Bessie (Anderson) Curtis. His parents and brother, Audley, Jr. preceded him in death.

ROCHESTER âÂ Joseph Kennedy Quick, 93, 2320 Country Club Drive South, Rochester, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday Dec. 9, 2011 at Wynnfield Crossing, Rochester.
He was born Oct. 11, 1918 in Amboy, the son of Earl and Alpha (Kennedy) Quick. Sept. 22, 1941 in Rochester he married Virginia Louise Delp and she survives. He served as a Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

BREMEN âÂ Chad Reese, 44, of Bremen passed away Dec. 11, 2011 after battling lung cancer. He was born Feb. 6, 1967 in Bremen to Jeff Reese and Peggy (Hendricks) Krauter.
Chad was a hard worker, working in the R.V. industry at Forest River. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed hanging out with friends. He liked watching sporting events and was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Notre Dame. He was just a fun guy to be around. He was a good father; he loved his boys and spending time with them.

ARGOS âÂ Mary Elizabeth Heckaman, 87, of 18770 Maple Road, Argos, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 in Sebring, Fla.
She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Ed) DeMont of Plymouth, Rosemary (Ron) Cullers of Mexico; a son, Mike (Jan) Heckaman of Argos; a brother, Allen Neff of Sebring, Fla.; eight grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

ARGOS âÂ Helen Jane Large Shriver, 87, of 20912 Iris Road, Argos, passed away at 7:45 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011 at her residence.
Jane was born in Fulton County June 5, 1924, the daughter ofÂ Emery Vernice and Clovie Annice Stayton Large. Growing up she was one of eight children, sharing her childhood with two sisters Juanita and Susan and five brothers Chester, Odd, Bee, Orville and Sam. With great pride she graduated with the class of 1942 from Leiterâs Ford High School.
