ARGOS â€” Mary L. Hooker, 80, of Argos died Aug. 9, 2012 at 11:05 a.m. at Indiana University Health â€“ Goshen Hospital following a short illness.
She was born Dec. 25, 1931 in Culver to Roy E. and Ethel L. (Stevenson) Overmyer. She lived all of her life in the Argos community.
Feb. 25, 1953 in Argos she married Richard â€śDickâ€ť G. Hooker; he preceded her Dec. 9, 1996.
Mary worked for the Argos community school as the cafeteria director for 27 years, retiring in 2001.
Mary is a graduate of Argos High School class of 1950.

CULVER â€”Â Albert Arthur Joseph ParĂ© (1925-2012) was born in Lawrence, Mass. Aug, 10, 1925 to Antonio and Laura ParĂ©. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1943, and he enlisted in the United States Navy in November of the same year. He served honorably as a medic in the U.S. Navy and Marines in World War II.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Former Muncie resident Betty Hayden, 77, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012 at her home in Plymouth where she lived for the last eight years.
She was born in Wakefield, Ohio, the daughter of Langley and Alka Slusher and graduated from Royerton High School.
Betty worked for Waterfield Mortgage as a loan closing secretary and retired after many years of service.
She loved the Lord and was a faithful servant being baptized last year in Connecticut. Her other loves included her grandchildren and the Indiana Pacers.

BREMEN â€”Â Nored F. Schlarb, 94, of Bremen, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2012 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Wakarusa.
She is survived by a daughter, Kay (Ron) Holmes of Bremen; a son, Tom (Susan) Schlarb of Bremen; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother and sister, David Hathaway and Val June Schafer both of Lakeville.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Woodland with burial following the service at St. John Cemetery in Woodland.

ROCHESTER â€”Â Arthur Thorn Sr., 68, of Rochester died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at Visiting Nurses and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters Tina (Jesus) Gonzeles of Rochester, Melissa (Zach) Burr of Ft. Wayne, Haley (Josh) Ruiz of Plymouth; two sons, Arthur (Jennifer) Thorn Jr. of Argos, Thomas Thorn of Rochester; 11 grandchildren; and two brothers, Jimmy (Diane) Thorn of Chicago, Ill., William (Maxine) Thorn of Peru.

He is survived by his sister, Grace Marie Miller, Rochester; two brothers, Max (Deloris) Brown of Claypool, John (Neva) Brown of Russell, Ky.

CULVER â€”Â John T. Drang, 71, of Culver passed away at 11:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Culver.
John was born March 24, 1941 in Chicago, Ill. to Frank and Agnes (Marshall) Drang. He grew up in Ora. He graduated from Monterey High School in 1960. April 7, 1962, John married the love of his life, Rochelle â€śShellyâ€ť Good at the Burr Oak Church of God. They celebrated 50 years together this year during which they raised three children.

She was born March 2, 1923 in Plymouth to Clint and Teresa (Young) Beldon. She married Herbert Wolff March 30, 1974 and he died Sept. 13, 1989, then she married Melvin Blad Oct. 22, 1991.
