PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ Evelyn E. Zumbaugh, 94, formerly of Baker Street, passed away at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at Miller‚Äôs Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born in LaPaz on Jan. 21, 1920, Evelyn was the daughter of Frank M. and Elsie Bachtel Rankert. She graduated from LaPaz High School in 1938.
Evelyn married Chalon F. Zumbaugh in the Pine Creek Parsonage in North Liberty on June 25, 1939, who preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1994.

BOURBON ‚ÄĒ¬†Vonna Mae (Summers) Rettinger, 86, died from cancer early Sunday morning, March 2. A Bourbon area resident for most of her life, she had resided in Miller‚Äôs Senior Living facility in Plymouth for the last several years before recently moving to Garden‚Äôs at Lake City in Warsaw.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ Kenneth S. Barenie, 84, passed away at his Plymouth residence following an illness, Friday evening, Feb. 28, 2014.
Kenneth was born in Highland on Aug. 21, 1929 to Alfred T. and Ina (Spencer) Barenie. He attended Griffith High School in Griffith.
Ken married Margaret R. ‚ÄúMarge‚ÄĚ Carver on May 7, 1949 in Black Oak. Their union of marriage for 65 years created a family tree with two sons, two daughters, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

PLYMOUTH ‚ÄĒ Carol J. Sundin, 85, a resident of Plymouth passed away at Loyola University Hospital in Maywood, Ill. at 2:36 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 following a series of strokes.
Carol was born the only child of Patrick J. and Pearl I. (Kollar) McAvoy who both preceded her in death.
Carol was married to Carl J. Sundin who also preceded her in death.
Carol worked for Johnson & Johnson in Chicago for 38 years. She had full knowledge of the production facility and equipment and retired as a workforce trainer.

MISHAWAKA ‚ÄĒ¬†Neil ‚ÄúNick‚ÄĚ Southwell, 73, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Mr. Southwell served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960 and worked at various newspapers, operating printing presses. He was also a self-employed truck driver. He loved watching his grandchildren at their sporting events and was their loudest fan. He was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.

ROCHESTER ‚ÄĒ Dorcas J. Van Duyne of Rochester and formerly of Argos passed away at 12:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Wynnfield Crossing of Rochester.
On Aug. 10, 1928, Dorcas was born in Fulton County to Charles and Irma O. Schertz Riddle. Growing up, she shared her childhood with a sister, Norita and a brother Charles Lee. While in elementary school, she skipped second grade and later graduated as salutatorian of the Richland Center High School, class of 1945. Her brother, Charles Lee was the valedictorian of the same class.

HAMLET ‚ÄĒ¬†Ruth E. Wallskog, 95, passed away Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 at Catherine Kasper Home, Donaldson.
Mrs. Wallskog was born Feb. 25, 1919 in Blue Island, Ill. to William and Theresa Marshall and lived in the area most of her life. On March 1, 1945 at Blue Island, Ill., she was married to Eric ‚ÄúSwede‚ÄĚ Wallskog, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; and three sisters.
