PLYMOUTH — George L. Hill, 88, 1002 Red Maple Drive, a resident of Plymouth for the past 14 years, died of natural causes at 6:10 p.m. in the Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011.
George was born in Davenport, Okla., July 23, 1923. He was the son of Herbert Clinton Hill and Cynthia “Alice” Manning.
In 1943, George enlisted in the Army Air Force. He was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant in May of 1946.

PLYMOUTH — Katie Pike, 89, of 328 Conger St., Plymouth, passed away of natural causes after a lengthy illness at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Delores Dipert.
Katie was born in Monterey, Oct. 27, 1921, to Richard and Anna Smith Ludwig.
She was married to John Hall in the mid-1930s and was blessed with two children.
In 1943, Katie was married to Claude Pike and had five more wonderful children.

Surviving are daughters, Ruby Schwartz, Wilma Schwartz, Nancy Fern Schwartz, all of Nappanee, Linda Sue (David H.) Miller, Bremen; sons, Ervin (Carol) Schwartz, LaVern (Carolyn) Schwartz, and Earl Ray (Marietta) Schwartz, all of Nappanee, Allen (Mary Ellen) Schwartz, Milford, and Jerry Lee (Betty) Schwartz, Shipshewana, 31 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and brothers, William (Mary) Chupp, Bremen and Edward (Alta) Chupp, Nappanee.

PLYMOUTH — Katie Pike, 89, of 328 Conger St., Plymouth, died of natural causes at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the home of her daughter after a lengthy illness.
Surviving are daughters, Shirley Conley of Elkhart, Delores Dipert and Sharon Standley, both of Plymouth; sons, James Pike of Plymouth and Rolland Pike of Elkhart; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the House of Prayer, 12450 Plymouth-Goshen Trail, Plymouth, IN 46563.

BREMEN — Dr. Christie L. Peterson, 44, of Bremen, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20 while visiting Manistee County, Mich. Chris resided at Lake of the Woods where she enjoyed many activities.
She was the youngest of seven children born to Dr. Ronald L. and Virginia A. (Pierce) Peterson. Christie Lynn was a spirited girl born June 1, 1967 in the Plymouth Parkview Hospital.

WALKERTON — Melba L. Reese, age 85, of 500 Walkerton Trail, Walkerton, passed away at 10:20 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Walkerton.
Melba was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Lowland, N.C., to James and Mattie (Lewis) Lupton. Melba became the bride of Robert Reese July 26, 1946, in a ceremony that took place in Norfolk, Va. Robert passed away July 8, 1998. Robert and Melba moved to Tyner, in October of 1951.

GOSHEN — Phillip James Lindenman died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011 at IU Health Goshen Hospital at the age of 63.
He was born Feb. 8, 1948. He led an active life as a farmer, agriculture consultant, agriculture educator, FFA advisor and 4-H leader. He had taught agricultural sciences at Argos High School four years then worked for Farm Bureau and developed an agriculture consulting business. He later returned to teaching agriculture-related classes at NorthWood High School for 15 years.

She is survived by her husband, Robert B. Wardle; daughters, Terri Lea (Clint) Fairchild of Monticello, Ky. and Paula Jo (Michael) Garybush of Audubon, Pa.; son, Robert P. Wardle of Plainwell, Mich.; one granddaughter; brother, Larry (Janice) Fisher of Plymouth; and sisters, Sheryl (John) Milner of New Carlisle and Linda (David) Nolte of Dickson, Tenn.
