PLYMOUTH — Michael N. Caban, 65, a Plymouth resident since 1954, passed away suddenly in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, at 7:46 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013.
Born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, on March 9, 1948, Michael was the son of Ernesto Nunez and Angela Martinez Caban.
He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1967. He studied then at Ancilla College for a year and transferred to Valparaiso University.

PLYMOUTH — Lauretta May Berger, 89, of Plymouth, passed away in Pilgrim Manor at 3:09 a.m., Tuesday morning, April 2, 2013.
Born in Plymouth on June 1, 1923, Lauretta was the daughter of James M. and Marie Tarent Gilbert. She lived in Plymouth all of her life, graduating from the eighth grade of Webster School in 1936.
On Nov. 8, 1940, in Plymouth, Lauretta and Clifford Berger Sr. were married. Clifford passed away April 24, 2009, following almost 69 years of marriage.

LAPORTE — Eugene “Gene” Miller, 79, of LaPorte, formerly of Knox, died Friday, March 29, 2013 in Golden Living Center-Countyside, LaPorte.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanie (Mike) Marsh of Knox and Julie Ann Joseph of North Judson; two sons, Randy Gene (Ann) Miller of Warrenville, Ill. and Dennis Gene Wireman of Knox; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Everee Allen and Edie Fugate and one brother, Orville Ray Miller.

PLYMOUTH — William Monroe “Jay” Biggs went home to the Lord at 8:05 a.m. Easter morning in the company and care of his loving family. He resided at River Walk in Plymouth.
Bill was born in Mishawaka on Aug. 11, 1929. He was the son of Royal N.R. and Nellie Bell (Young) Biggs.
He attended schools in Mishawaka-Beiger-Mary Phillips, Bingham and Mishawaka High School, receiving his high school diploma June 4, 1947, while serving in the United States Army, which he had joined Feb. 4, 1946, at the age of 16.

CULVER — Donald M. Stubbs, 80, of Culver, passed away peacefully at 10:13 p.m. Easter Sunday March 31, 2013 while a resident at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
Donald was born Sept. 27, 1932 to Carl and Laura (Shaw) in Argos. On Oct. 3, 1957 he was married to Betty L. Van Asdall at the Knox United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death Sept. 12, 2001.

DONALDSON — Elizabeth Katherine “Betty K. Scheetz”, 94, was reunited with her family on Easter morning, Sunday, March 31, 2013, at 5:20 a.m. in the Catherine Kasper Life Center in Donaldson. A longtime Plymouth resident, she had resided at the Catherine Kasper Life Center for the last four years.
The daughter of Lawrence B. and Katherine M. (Ahler) Scheetz, Betty was born July 16, 1918 in Monticello. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1937.
