Donovan ‘Sandy’ Hanes

PLYMOUTH — Donovan “Sandy” L. Hanes Sr., 78, of Plymouth died at 9:45 a.m., Monday, April 8, 2013, at his home.
He is survived by his three daughters, Valerie A. Mosier, Sandra L. Cramer, and Pamela L. Callcut all of Arizona; his son, Walter A. Hanes of Arizona; and five grandchildren.
There will be no services or visitation held at this time.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth is handling the arrangements.

BOURBON — Shirley A. Eyrich, 77, a resident of Bourbon, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at home in the care of her family.
Shirley was born the daughter of Ernest I. Dickey and Leota Velda Haney Dickey on Oct. 22, 1935 in Tippecanoe. She was a 1953 graduate of Tippecanoe High School and was a lifelong resident of the Bourbon area.

CULVER — Kerry A. Pinder, 44, of Culver joined his beloved sister, Deanna and cousin, Liz, with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2013.
Born Dec. 18, 1968 in Chicago, he was the son of Jerry and Beverly (Hood) Pinder. On Dec. 21, 1996, he married Stephanie D. Hinds. She survives.
Kerry was a 1987 Plymouth High School graduate. He attended Northwestern Technical College in Lima, Ohio from 1987 to 1988 and was also a 2001 graduate of Ivy Tech School of Nursing.

ELKHART — Russell E. “Pete” Peterson, 88, of Elkhart, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Sunday (April 7, 2013) at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1925 in Plymouth to Edward and Susie (Clark) Peterson.

PLYMOUTH — Alice May Hartman, 78, of Plymouth died April 7, 2013 at 7:50 a.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver following a short illness.
She was born May 8, 1934 in Culver to Ronald C. and Claribel K. (Scott) Quivey. She lived her whole life in Marshall County.
On June 20, 1959 at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church in Culver she married Darwin Hartman.

WALKERTON — Elaine M. Erikson, 88, of Walkerton died Monday April 8, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter, Hollis “Holly” (George) Elia of North Liberty.
Cremation has taken place. Nusbaum-Elkin Funeral Home, 408 Roosevelt Road, Walkerton was entrusted with arrangements.

NAPPANEE — Lydia Mae (Miller) Schmucker, 83, of Nappanee, died at 7:45 p.m., Sunday, April 7, 2013 at her residence.
Surviving are her children, Marvin (Ruth) Schmucker, Barbara (Jeff) Smith, both of Goshen, Raymond Schmucker, North Webster, John (Kati) Schmucker, Wakarusa, Mary Esther (Norman) Slabaugh, Etna Green, Emmon (Dana) Schmucker, Goshen, Katie Ann (Lloyd) Slabaugh, Nappanee, Daniel (Ruth) Schmucker, Wakarusa; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Susie (David) Miller, Blair, Wis.

SOUTH BEND — William Dale Tanner, 70, died at 3:55 p.m. April 5, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth, following a lengthy struggle with dementia. His family was at his bedside.
Bill was born in Plymouth, to Robert and Virginia Ruggles Tanner, and resided in and around Plymouth most of his life.

CULVER — Dollie Mae Martindale, 75, of Culver, passed away at 1:40 p.m. April 2, 2013 at Miller's Merry Manor in Culver.
She was born July 26, 1937 in Monterey to Carl Keller and Mildred (Stevens) Keller. She resided in Monterey until moving to Culver in 1979. On Oct. 19, 1979, Dollie married Roderick Martindale who proceeded her in death Oct. 23, 2011.

Eva Belle Freeman

PLYMOUTH — Eva Belle Freeman, 93, of Warsaw, died at 2:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. Eva was born Feb. 6, 1920 in Pierceton to Ora Edward and Pearl Jane (Copeland) Priser. Eva and Dale D. Freeman were married Jan. 1, 1939 in Syracuse and preceded in death Feb. 4, 2003.
She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Warsaw, and attended Plymouth Baptist Church. She made her own clothes, taught herself to play the organ and loved her grandchildren.
