BREMEN â€”Â Carol A. Higgins, 58 years old, joined her Heavenly Father at 10:41 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013 at her home. Carol was born April 10, 1955 in Warsaw and has lived in Bremen for many years. Carol worked in the mental health field for over 30 years. She was a graduate of Bremen High School and Indiana Wesleyan University. Carol loved gardening, reading, animals, and spending time with her family.

COMSTOCK PARK, Mich. â€”Â Theresa M. (Perry) Banks, 93, of Comstock Park, Mich., formerly of Monterey, passed away Aug. 11, 2013 at the age of 93.

KOONTZ LAKE â€” Jerald A. Young, 55, passed away Aug. 9, 2013 in his home.
Jerry went to be with his mother, who just recently passed away in July of the year. She was his caregiver all of his life.
Jerry was born Sept. 29, 1957 in Knox and lived at Koontz Lake all of his life and knew no strangers. He was known to all as the â€śMayor of Koontz Lakeâ€ť. He was a very friendly and outgoing guy and will be deeply missed. He loved to play bingo on Monday nights. He also collected aluminum cans and played dice on Saturday nights with his neighbors.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Dorothy A. Sahagun, 88, of Plymouth and formerly of Bourbon passed away at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 in Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
On Jan. 28, 1925, she was born to Oscar and Anna (Weishalla) Haavig in Staples, Minn. She was united in marriage to Mario Sahagun on June 21, 1947 in Chicago, Ill. He preceded her in death May 28, 1996.
She lived in Chicago until moving to Sidney, then to Warsaw. Dorothy eventually moved to Bourbon in 1993.

FRUITLAND PARK, Fla. â€” David W. Sisk, 82, of Fruitland Park, Fla., formerly of Plymouth, passed away Aug. 2, 2013.
He was born May 8, 1931 in Plymouth to Chester and Virginia Sisk. Dave faithfully served his country in the Navy. He was united in marriage to Jean Curtis Dennie on April 14, 1980 in Plymouth.
Dave was an avid fisherman, had been employed at Wheelabrator, and retired from Biomet in 1993.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Helen E. Long, 66, of Plymouth, died at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home, in Plymouth.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth Long of Plymouth; and her brother, Ed (Sharon) Long of Fairfield, Ohio.Â
Burial is at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at New Oak Hill Cemetery, Columberium.

PLYMOUTH â€” Jerry L. Daugherty, 64, passed away following an illness at the Jessie Brown V.A. Hospital in Chicago on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.
Born in Plymouth on Aug. 12, 1948, Jerry was the 11th child born of Russell W. and Dorothy M. (Reinholt) Daugherty.
A graduate of LaVille Jr./Sr. High School, Jerry was a member of the class of 1967.
He joined the U.S. Army and served our country in Vietnam. In Plymouth, he was a member of the Plymouth American Legion Post 27 and the Marshall County VFW Post 1162.

ROCHESTER â€” Doris Newcomer, 72, of Rochester died at 4:15 p.m. Aug. 10 atÂ St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis.Â
She is survived by her husband, Bob; three daughters, Angela (Danny) Davis of Aurora, Colo., Brenda (David) Benzing of Rochester, Sherri Wagoner of Warsaw; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jeanette Clementson of Sebring, Fla., Annabel Marshall of Mentone, and Donna Jean (Richard) Arven of Georgia.Â
Thomas H. Metcalfe

SOUTH BEND â€” Thomas H. Metcalfe, 89, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Sanctuary at St. Paulâ€™s South Bend. He was born Oct. 20, 1923 in Evansville, a son of Joseph Lyle and Mabel (Seebode) Metcalfe. He graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, received his bachelorâ€™s degree in education from the University of Evansville, and his masterâ€™s degree in school administration from the University of Notre Dame.
Tom met Martha Isham while roller skating, a favorite pastime for them, and married her in 1941.
