KOONTZ LAKE â€” Stephen M. Werner, 63, of Renfrew, Pa., formerly of Koontz Lake passed away Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013 in his home. Steve was born June 25, 1950 in Fort Wayne. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Walkerton American Legion Post #189.

GOSHEN â€”Â Dale Ewers, 38, of Goshen passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He was born in Stockton, Calif. to Russell and Kelly (Vanderzanden) Ewers on March 13, 1975.
Dale enjoyed working for Kik Corporation and staying active in his gym. He also enjoyed attending concerts, bicycling, traveling, and animals. Dale is remembered as being fun loving and friendly, with a desire to help those around him. He was a â€śbig brotherâ€ť to everyone and often provided a listening ear when needed.

PLYMOUTH â€” Robert Hansen Booth, 65, of Plymouth, passed away Aug. 30, 2013. Born June 14, 1948, Bob lived in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., until graduating from the University of Michigan. He eventually became a Ford dealer in Platte City, Mo. with much success.

BREMEN â€”Â Marie Ritenour, 89, died at Elkhart Hospice House on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. She was born Feb. 9, 1924 in Bremen to Ervin and Essie (Bennett) Hummel.
Marie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Greg Samons of Bourbon. A grandson, Steve (Kari) Samons of Ft. Wayne and their daughters, Samantha and Katelin Samons, survive as well. A sister-in-law, Edna (Meryl) Swihart of Plymouth and a sister-in-law, Mildred Ritenour of Warsaw, together with several nieces and nephews, also survive.

LANCASTER, Pa. â€”Â R. Phil Deavel, 81, of Lancaster, Pa., formerly of Bremen, died Sept. 3, 2013.
He is survived by siblings, R. Gary Deavel of Traverse City, Mich., Shirley (Don) Madden of Novato, Calif., and James R. (Arlene) Deavel of Auburn, Wash.; his wife, Anne Swank Deavel of Lancaster, Pa.; sons, David (Catherine) Deavel of St. Paul, Minn. and Daniel (Jona) Deavel of St. Cloud, Minn.; and nine grandchildren.

RACINE, Wis. â€”Â Anna Ruth Terry, age 98, passed away Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Rochester, Aug. 23, 1915, daughter of the late Charles and Lulu (Nee: Robinson) Piper and graduated from Rochester High School.
On Jan. 19, 1935 at Bowling Green, Ohio, she was united in marriage to James D. Terry who preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1985. Anna Ruth moved to Racine, Wis. in 2004 to be close to her daughter. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She will be dearly missed.

PLYMOUTH â€” Ruth L. Beals, 92, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus.
Ruth was born in Bourbon on Jan. 28, 1921, to Galeman and Myrtle (Kitch) Dexter. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1939.
On Feb. 12, 1939, Ruth Lucille married Robert Newton Beals in Plymouth. He preceded her in death July 30, 1974.

SOUTH BEND â€” Ruby Opal Letcher, 90, of South Bend passed away at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Signature Health Care, South Bend. She was born Sept. 19, 1922 in Delphi to the late Henry and Lucinda (Purviance) Barr. On June 23, 1944 she married John F. Kinney who preceded her in death in 1947. On Feb. 14, 1950 in South Bend she married Joseph Letcher who preceded in death in 1984.

Alice was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Bremen to the late Willard and Mabel (Smeltzer) Sauer. She has been a lifelong area resident. Four sisters and two brothers preceded Alice in death; Velma Merrill, Lois Miller, Carolyn Sanders, Mary Gearhart, Floyd Sauer and Vernon Sauer.
