PLYMOUTH â Patricia A Rudiatis Vlaisavich, 79, Plymouth, formerly of Hammond, died April 3, 2012 at Millerâs Merry Manor, Culver.
Survivors are her son, Vincent (Cheri) Vlaisavich, Florence, Ky.; daughter, Deborah (Phillip) Sherwood, Argos; brother, John (Sandy) Furto, Merrillville; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MARION âÂ Janet Christine May, 61, died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10:53 p.m. in the Indiana University Health âÂ Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.
She is survived by her mother, Pauline (Rains) Phillippe of Marion; one brother, David L. (Diana) May of Marion; and two sisters, Cynthia L. (May) and her husband Mike Laughrun of Massanutten, Va., and Lorann Ruth (May) and her husband Donald Jennings of Tallahassee, Fla.

WALKERTON â Jerry Lee Hummel, 63, passed away due to natural causes in the early morning hours Saturday, April 7, 2012, at the 21-acre hobby farm he had called home for nearly 39 years. He had fought stubbornly in the recent past against the aftereffects of a severe stroke, and was determined to overcome just as he had throughout his life before our gracious Lord called him away.

PLYMOUTH â Judith Kay Smith, 71, died at her home, 625 Loon Court, Plymouth, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 of complications brought on by Huntingtonâs Disease. A sister Doris Swank, who was also diagnosed with the disease, passed away March 16 of this year.
Born in Rochester March 11, 1941, she was the daughter of Wilson Mearle and Margaret Pauline (Nicoll) Wakeland.
Judith graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1960. She earned her teaching degree from Ball State University and a masterâs in education from IUSB.

PLYMOUTH âÂ Lois M. Schultz, 85, of S.R. 17, Plymouth, passed away at 8 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at her home.
Lois was born May 13, 1926, in Stillwell, to Russell and Florence (Whittaker) Wing Sr. Lois became the bride of Robert W. Schultz, Sept. 30, 1950, at the Salem Church, Salem. They have been residents of Plymouth since 1961.

GREENCASTLE âÂ Fred J. Hasting Sr., 60, Van Bibber Lake Estates, ended his four-year battle with cancer at home Monday, April 2, 2012.
Fred was born Aug. 22, 1951 in Hamlet, to Donald and Betty (Starkey) Hasting.
He graduated from Oregon-Davis High School in 1969. He was a machinist for 32 years.
Fred married Judy (Crosby) Hasting April 28, 2001 and she survives.
Stephen D. Slater

PLYMOUTH â Stephen Douglas Slater, 63, a Mill Pond, Plymouth resident, passed away at his residence of natural causes Saturday, March 10, 2012.
Steve was born the son of Carl and Nellie K. (Burgess) Slater in Plymouth June 25, 1948. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1966.
Steve entered the United States Navy July 25, 1967 and served during the Vietnam War until Sept. 21, 1970.
He was a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and fostered many friends.
Dorothy âDodieâ M. Shafer

PLYMOUTH â Dorothy âDodieâ Mae (MacInnis) Shafer, 69, of Plymouth, died unexpectedly of natural causes at her home Sunday evening, April 1, 2012.
Dodie was born in Nottingham, England Feb. 25, 1943. At the age of 3, she came to Canada with her mother Dorothy Joan (Stevenson) MacInnis, who under the War Brides Act, married a Canadian Armed Forces soldier, Charles Lester MacInnis. They livedÂ in Charlottetown on Prince Edward Island, Canada,Â until 1959 when the family moved to Plymouth.

TIPPECANOE âÂ Carole M. Koontz, 77, of Tippecanoe, passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012 at 8:05 a.m. at home in the care of her family. She had been in failing health.
Carole was born Nov. 4, 1934 at home in Bremen to Minna and Dillman Manges.Â
She has been a resident of the area all her life. Carole was a 1952 graduate of Bremen High School.

PLYMOUTH âÂ Loren Nifong, 74, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning, March 30, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Born at home April 13, 1937, Loren was the son of John Cyrus and Loretta (Harley) Nifong.
Loren graduated from West High School in 1955. He was a 10-year 4-H member and had fond memories of showing the family Holsteins regionally and at the Indiana State Fair.
