NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Jack B. Kowatch, 89, of North Fort Myers, Fla. formerly of Culver, died Nov. 20, 2011 at Hope Hospice, Cape Coral, Fla.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Kowatch of North Fort Myers, Fla.; brothers, Edward (Mary) Kowatch of Culver, James (Beverly) Kowatch of Chicago, Ill., John Kowatch of Culver; son-in-law, Leon Bennett of Culver; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

BREMEN — Chester Elmer Walter, 83, died of natural causes at 6:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011 in the Bremen Health Care, where he has made his home for the past four years.
The son of George E. and Dora E. (Sheneman) Walter, Chester was born Jan. 13, 1928 in South Bend. Known to many as Chet, he was a 1946 graduate of Lakeville High School.
June 24, 1949, Chet married Edith Irene Smith at the Holland Family home in Teegarden. The couple had met at a youth activity at the County-Line Brethren Church.

PLYMOUTH — Richard A. Cooper Sr., 62, affectionately known as Rick or Coop, a lifetime area resident, died at 3:39 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
The son of Nelson Sr. and Ernestine Hauser Cooper, Rick was born Jan. 15, 1949, in South Bend.
A 1967 graduate of Plymouth High School, Rick was in the U.S. Navy from September, 1967 to April, 1971, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a member of the American Legion and former member of the VFW.

PLYMOUTH — Theola I. Atkins, 93, of Plymouth, passed away at 10:24 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, in Mishawaka.Â
Theola was born June 10, 1918, in Detroit, Mich., to Orlando and Marion (MacDonald) Bryce. Aug. 17, 1940, Theola married Robert “Bob” Atkins in Detroit, Mich. Bob passed away Sept. 13, 2001, after 61 years of marriage. Theola had been a member of the Plymouth Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1952. She was a homemaker, mother of three children, and worked at J.C. Penney, Company, in Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH — Thelma Ruth Newcomb, 96, a lifetime Plymouth resident, died at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Thelma was born Thelma Ruth Kyser in Plymouth, May 27, 1915 to Ora E. and Ethel Troutman Kyser. She was a 1934 graduate of Lincoln High School, Plymouth.
July 4, 1936, in her parents’ yard, Thelma and Darrell B. Newcomb were married. Darrell preceded her in death Feb. 23, 1973.

She is survived by her husband, Jasper Tolson Sr.; daughters, Misty (David) Back of North Judson, and Kathy (Vince) Smith and Bertha Tolson, all of Knox; son, Jasper (Stacy) Tolson Jr. of Baines, Texas; sister, Ada Fugate of Rochester and brothers, Charles Noel of Logansport, Stanley Cook of North Judson and Herschel Bell of Morristown, Tenn.
