MARSHALL COUNTY â€” The Marshall County Highway Department gave a lengthy report to the county commissioners on Monday morning. The report included progress on a contract with North Central Co-op for fuel and card readers to make monitoring of where the fuel goes more efficient.
One of the first companies asked the commissioners to approve their application for a road cut to tap into the Metronet near 4A Road. In addition the department and the commissioners discussed three possible new speed limit sign locations and hiring of a new employee.

LAKEVILLE â€” The Lakeville Town Council discussed the comprehensive plan for the town's future development on Wednesday. The opening of the new US Highway 31 will draw some traffic away from the town. However, with Potato Creek, Newton Park, the lakes and wetlands and Notre Dame not too far away as well as the current four lane highway the council feels the town still has a lot to offer.

AREA â€” Indiana switched from the General Education Development (GED) to the Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC). The Plymouth Adult Education Center began implementation of the test in February and has already administered it twice. ARGOS â€” Three options for paying back a $700,000 General Obligation Bond were presented to school board members Monday. The board voted to approve a resolution and start the process.
The Board selected option allows interest only to be paid in the first five years, more paid in the sixth year, and a final balloon payment would be made in the seventh year. In this option, current debt obligations will be increased only slightly, and the balloon payment will be due in a year when other obligations are not present.
MARSHALL COUNTY â€” How the county's $8,725,243 budget shapes out is still undecided, but county council members heard from department heads about what is needed.
The General Fund budgets for all departments totaled $9,041,321. The council now has the daunting task of determining where to cut $316,078 from the budgets.
MARSHALL COUNTY â€” A strong line of thunderstorms are moving east toward Marshall County, according to the National Weather Service.
The line of storms extends from Walkerton to six miles south of Knox and is moving about 35 miles per hour.

MARSHALL COUNTY â€” Devices that will instantly measure an offenderâ€™s blood alcohol level will be utilized in Marshall County.
Ward Byers, Court Services, brought a contract before the Marshall County Commissioners for their approval. The contract is for alcohol monitoring with BI Corporation.
BOURBON â€” Faulkner Fabricating, a company out of Bourbon recently learned that a third party has been mailing out fraudulent checks to people across the country.
â€śIt started out Thursday last week,â€ť said Paula Johnson, an employee of the company. She received a call from a man who resided in Toledo, Ohio.
â€śHe told me the check number and it didnâ€™t match up with the run,â€ť she said. â€śIt had the routing number, account number, and our address.â€ť
But the checks had left off the phone number for Faulkner Fabricating.
PLYMOUTH â€” The 2015 proposed budget totals $11.61 million and includes increases to cover the cost of elections, fire hydrant fees, a new computer system and employee insurance.
Toni Hutchings, clerk-treasurer for the city, said these items are included in the money to be allocated to the financial board and clerk treasurer - $980,744 - which is a 10.97 percent increase from last year.
