Hensler’s cuts annual Statehouse tree

HAMLET — A Christmastime atmosphere will fill the air at the Statehouse Rotunda as a magnificent Concolor Fir is moved into the building, bringing with it the citrusy aroma of the holidays.
This glorious tree, which stands roughly 25 feet tall, is a testament to the skill and care of the growers at Hensler Nursery, Inc. in Hamlet.
In addition to providing the tree for the Statehouse, they will also be presenting Lt. Governor Becky Skill-man with an 8-foot Fraser Fir.

Joining Plymouth for the journey

PLYMOUTH — This week, the newest campaign to market our community was unveiled. The Wheel of Progress campaign is now beginning to take off after several local stakeholders decided to join together to formulate a brand for the city.
They have decided that “Join Us in the Journey” will be the city’s slogan, after a community-wide survey that was distributed to the public for 10 days in November.

The Marshall County Commissioners continue to debate the replacement of employees in various departments of county government in an effort to meet what continue to be challenging times for the bottom line in the county budget.

Big response to Park Department survey

PLYMOUTH — If response is a measure, the level of interest in the Plymouth Park Department is very high.
Superintendent Mike Hite is in the process of the department’s new five year plan and part of that plan involves a community survey about the park, its programs and suggestions for the department. Hite distributed the survey in city water bills, the department’s data base and online to all city of Plymouth taxpayers to get their input on the direction the park is heading.

The sledding hill at Centennial Park has been full of children and adults alike, taking advantage of the recent snowfall.

Changes within Plymouth Fire, EMS

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Fire and EMS Department has announced promotional changes within the department.
FF/Paramedic Deanna Cleveland has been named as the Assistant Chief - EMS for the Plymouth Fire Department.
She is a five-year veteran of the Plymouth Fire Department as a career and volunteered with the service prior to that.

Commissioners host state legislators Saturday

PLYMOUTH — Marshall County residents will have a chance to talk to their government as the Marshall County Commissioners will host a question and answer session with all of the area's General Assembly members.

Intersection light to be out most of the week

December 8, 2010

PLYMOUTH — Due to a semi-tractor trailer crash at Michigan and Jefferson streets Monday, Dec. 6, the stoplight support for westbound Jefferson Street was damaged and knocked down. 
On investigation by the Indiana Department of Transportation, it was found that the base of the pole was damaged as well. 
According to INDOT officials at the LaPorte District, the light may not be repaired until late this week.
