Car show, costume contest will raise money for playground

PLYMOUTH — Cars. Food. Halloween costumes. All this and more can be found in the field near Mancino's Grinders & Pizza October 20.
Mancino's owner Tony Gamble is organizing the first annual Freedom Park car show for all makes and models of cars, trucks, and special interest vehicles. Proceeds from the show — vehicle owners pay $15 to register — will go toward an all-inclusive playground for the city.

Tyner post office is no more

TYNER — The Tyner Post Office closed this month, a year after being identified in 2011 as a "low-activity" office by the United States Postal Service (USPS).
Residents of Tyner will now have to pick up their mail at P.O. boxes located outside the Polk Township Community Building on French Street in Tyner.
A statement posted by the Plymouth Post Office on the door at the Tyner office informed customers that delivery at the new P.O. boxes would begin September 8.

Sidewalk sale days start today

PLYMOUTH — Downtown merchants will have specials today, Friday, and Saturday for the Chamber of Commerce's "Old Fashion Days" sidewalk sale.
"It's our fall sidewalk sale," said Betty Glaub-Gibbs of the Chamber. "It's called old fashion days because it's been called that forever…we've asked store (employees) to dress up according to an era…from the 1980s and back."
Stores that will be offering sidewalk specials include: Floor Store & More, City Center News & Books, Na Rie Simple Treasures, Kings Jewelry, Yoder's Sports Center, Treat's Squire Shop, and Harriet's Closet.

Man found dead at Bremen Inn

BREMEN — Marshall County Coroner Bill Cleavenger along with Deputy Coroner Bridget Lowry were called to Bremen late Wednesday night to investigate the death of a 44 -year-old male who was found in his room at the Bremen Inn on the west side of Bremen. Bremen Police and Marshall County Police Department are investigating along with the coroner’s office. Cleavenger said an autopsy will be scheduled on Thursday to try and gain additional information.
The identity of the individual has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
