Local soldier wins regional competition, heading to state at end of month

PLYMOUTH — Staff sergeant Jerry Nenycz, of Plymouth, recently won the preliminary 2012 Indiana Soldier and Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year Competition, and will head to the state competition at the end of this month/
Qualifying soldiers will compete against each other for the title of "Soldier of the Year" for Indiana.

Gun fired during dispute

March 8, 2012

PLYMOUTH — A gun was fired into the air during a dispute between two South Bend men at an apartment on Broadway and Harrison streets Wednesday evening. Plymouth police officers investigated the incident and Armando Wagers, 32, of South Bend, and Andrew Groves Jr., 26, of South Bend were arrested. Wagers was charged with criminal recklessness with a firearm and possession of a firearm, and Groves was charged with false informing during investigation.
