Firefighters to train at abandoned house

November 30, 2012

PLYMOUTH — A home scheduled to be demolished is providing a unique opportunity for area firefighters.
The Marshall County Health Department condemned a home at 4170 Lilac Road near Plymouth, according to Jerry Fussell of the Health Department, and rather than just tear it down, it’s been offered to the LaPaz Fire Department to use for training.
“(The house) is in a decaying state,” explained Fussell. “We cannot contact the owner anymore; we have no way to get in contact with them.”

Culver community gathers in prayer to mourn shooting victims

November 30, 2012

The Culver community gathered Thursday night at a standing-room-only Wesley United Methodist Church on School Street, where an ecumenical, community-wide prayer vigil was held to help students and parents work through their grief.

The vigil was in response to the shooting death on Madison Street of two Culver residents, 44 year-old Michael Price and 16 year-old Stephen Suthard, Wednesday night in an incident still under police investigation.
