UPDATE: Town of Culver boil order canceled

November 12, 2012

The town of Culver has canceled the boil water order in effect for the past several days, according to town manager Dave Schoeff.

The boil order went into effect late Thursday night, after water was restored to the town of Culver following a water main break during construction in the downtown area, according to Schoeff.

Those with questions may contact Culver Town Hall at 842-3140.

Third graders collect blankets for families in need

November 12, 2012

PLYMOUTH — For Kendalle Hunter Verkler, the project to collect blankets for local families started simply.
“When I was getting ready for bed one night, I had to go get a blanket because my mom always turns on the fan,” remembered Verkler. “I just thought about collecting blankets and giving them to people who need warmth for the winter.”
Verkler, a third grader at Washington Discovery Academy, decided to get her school involved in the project. She asked principal Andrew Hartley for permission to have a “pajama day” at school, where students and teachers brought in blankets to donate.
