Wednesday, approximately 180 soldiers of the 381st MP Unit from Indiana will be deployed to Afghanistan. About 90 of the soldiers are from northern Indiana, out of the Plymouth National Guard Armory. Members of the Plymouth American Legion, VFW, DAV and Plymouth FOP Lodge 195 are planning a deployment ceremony Wednesday, Jan. 4.
The 30-minute ceremony will be held at the National Guard Armory on West Madison Street at 1 p.m. U.S. Congressman Joe Donnelly, State Representative Nance Dembowski, and Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter will be guest speakers.

ROCHESTER — When 21-year-old Mallory Wyatt, of Rochester, decided to make a video last week to encourage young people struggling with being bullied, she never imagined the response she would get.
“I decided I wanted to make a video to show people that they don’t always know what is going on in others' lives, and they shouldn’t make fun of (people),” said Wyatt. “I just thought (people) in Rochester would see it.”

PLYMOUTH — Hoosier Tire and Rubber Corporation, a long-standing employer in the local area, recently announced that 20 positions would result from their planned expansion in 2012. The company will be incorporating a rubber mixing plant to their existing facility in Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH — “What does every band want?” asks Britney Conway. “Groupies” is the obvious answer, and that is how the name for the popular local cover-band Groupies Wanted came to exist.
It may be said that Josh Ortiz is the heartbeat of this band, as its drummer, but Conway is the creative mastermind behind the catchy name.
