PLYMOUTH — Game day started a little early for Plymouth’s Pilgrims.
Meeting Whitko on the floor at PHS Wednesday evening, Coach Ryan Bales’ team met some real VIPs earlier in the day. The team “adopted” several families in Plymouth to help brighten their Christmas holiday with gifts and food.

Culver’s Jim DeWitt hadn’t seen Pearl Harbor in 70 years, but over the week of Dec. 7, he and a number of others present on that fateful day, were given a hero’s welcome at the area many -- like DeWitt -- last saw when the wounds of the victims of Japanese bombers were still fresh, families of the dead still in shock.
Two town council members last week added their comments to existing voices concerning the controversy over accusations made leading up to last month’s hotly-contested Culver town clerk race.
During the Dec. 13 regular meeting, Council member Lynn Overmyer defended outgoing clerk Casey Howard, who was defeated by Karen Heim, describing the “mess of paperwork” and “disarray” Howard was faced with when she first took over the clerk’s position, noting Howard straightened out the situation “professionally and promptly.”

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission voted in favor of accepting a final master plan for the proposed downtown park Wednesday. Presenting the concept drawing to the members was Michael Reese of the Troyer Group.
Reese said Concept I out of a number of different drawings that seemed to be the one most people who had attended public meetings, stakeholder meetings and also the Park Board favored.

Plymouth Church of the Heartland, 705 E. Jefferson St., will hold its Christmas service at 6:30 p.m. The title of the service is "A Not So Silent Night — finding the Prince of Peace in the midst of your chaos." PLYMOUTH — Rachelle Yung — and her workout partners Amanda Rogge and Melissa Bachtel — share their stories about their weight loss journeys. Getting a jump start on January’s Best Loser 2012 competition at the Fitness Forum at the LifePlex, the three will also be entering the competition, which is Jan. 16 to March 21. Registration deadline is Jan. 9, and teams will consist of just two players instead of the traditional four-person teams. Cost is $40 per team, and couples will still be competing for that $1,000 cash prize.

PLYMOUTH — Residents should be able to travel the new Pierce Street Bridge by the end of the week or sooner.
Mark Hollingsworth - construction engineer on the project - told the Marshall County Commissioners that the original opening slated for last week had been pushed back due to rains and flooding. He told the board that final railings and attenuators would hopefully be in place by Tuesday afternoon and that as soon as they were, the bridge would be opened.
December 20th
At approximately 9:15 p.m., Knox City Police were called to CVS Pharmacy on U.S. 35 after two men robbed the Knox store.
The suspects fled the scene, leading police on a chase that ended just north of S.R. 8 on Upas Road, where the robbers ditched their vehicle. The vehicle was located in a driveway at a residence near the Marshall/Starke County line.
More information is expected to be released later today.
Police arrested one of the suspects in Marshall County.
