PLYMOUTH – Reality for a dream moved a step closer with the opening of bids for the Community Resource Center.
The building that will give a home to many of the counties social services agencies has been a dream of many in the community. The common home would allow pooling of resources and efforts of the agencies and allow them to more effectively pursue their missions. The bids opened at the Marshall County Historical Society Museum on Thursday afternoon moved the building one step closer to reality.
PLYMOUTH — Heartland Artist Gallery will be offering classes to the members and community.Â
Jayne Jacobson is offering an enameling class Saturday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. She will teach the basic techniques of enameling. The class will be at her home and students will need a sack lunch. The class is limited in size so make reservations early. The cost is $30. Supplies will be provided.
BREMEN — The Bremen Public Library will offer a three-part class on Excel beginning Monday, Feb. 28. Each class session will be two hours and include “hands-on” work on the library’s laptop computers. No previous experience with Excel is required however, it is expected that patrons who sign up for these classes are able to use a mouse effectively. Registration for these classes begins Monday, Feb. 14.
ARGOS — The Argos United Methodist Church Community Life Center will host a fundraiser concert to help the church's mission group travel to Belize to help to help build a medical building. The event take place Saturday, Feb. 12 at the church at 570 N. Michigan St., Argos and features Rock 'N' Roll crooner Quentin Flagg. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. For more information or to make reservations call Maggie at 574-952-2807. School corporations all over the state are publishing their annual performance reports using 2009 data. Under Indiana code, the reports must be made available to local newspapers and published between Jan. 24 and Feb. 14. Today, the Pilot News publishes Plymouth, Argos, John Glenn and LaVille reports in the Classified/Legal section, beginning on page B3.
The reports are for 2009 after the ISTEP (Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress-Plus) was moved to the spring for grades 3-8 rather than being given in the fall as in previous years.
Culver's fourth annual Relay for Life, scheduled for April 15, had its official community kick off recently at the depot-train station at Culver's Town Park.
In addition to American Cancer Society representative Trisha Metz, several Culver Academies student organizers of the all-night event -- which raises funds for the American Cancer Society's ongoing fight against the disease -- addressed the audience.
