First baby of 2011 welcomed

PLYMOUTH — It was just a little less than a year ago that Cheryl Smith was named one of Marshall County’s Biggest Losers in a weight loss competition. And now this Culver grandma feels like the county’s biggest winner, as the first baby to arrive in 2011 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth is happy, healthy and just wonderful, according to her mother Amy Malek, Smith’s daughter.
Abagail Rose Freese was born Jan. 2 at 9:15 a.m., weighing in at 6 lbs.,1 oz. and measuring 19 inches long.

Commissioners organize for the coming year

PLYMOUTH — It was a day to organize for the coming year for the Marshall County Commissioners as well as welcome new Commissioner Greg Compton.
Compton will take over the seat previously held by Tom Chamberlin, who left to assume his duties as Sheriff of Marshall County. He will also assume several of Chamberlin’s duties on various boards as the Commissioners representative.
