New Christmas album accompanies DMHO tour

NASHVILLE — Adding to the Christmas cheer for the holiday is a special musical treat.
Plymouth’s Denver Bierman — and the Mile High Orchestra — will be coming to the Plymouth Wesleyan Church Thursday, Dec. 2 for its only Indiana appearance of the Christmas tour. Along with that, DMHO have just released a new album of Christmas music, available through Somerset Re-cords.

Downtown now shines with the lights of the season

PLYMOUTH — Several hundred hardy souls braved the cold to welcome a renowned world traveler to Plymouth for his yearly visit last night.
Santa Claus made his traditional entry into town Friday night aboard a Plymouth Fire Department truck with his own police escort and many residents were happy to brave the chill to welcome him to town. In his first appearance in town, Santa greeted local kids eager to see him, lit the city Christmas tree along with Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter, and posed for photo ops.

PLYMOUTH — The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) released Public Law 211 (PL 221) and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) results this week.
According to a press release, results varied for both accountability systems across the state.

NASHVILLE — When Denver and the Mile High Orchestra take the stage on Dec. 2 at Plymouth Wesleyan Church they’ll be performing with a very special guest star – the Plymouth High School Jazz Band.

New agriculture course at PHS

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth High School students will now have another course offering to choose from beginning in the fall of 2011.
Kelli Hoffman, teacher in the the Agriculture Science Department, received the unanimous approval of the school board on November 18 to add an Advanced Life Science, (ALS) Food Science Course I to the other courses within the department.

Pride of Plymouth on TV

PLYMOUTH – If you missed a chance to see the Pride of Plymouth marching band in their history making performance you can be thankful for another shot at it.
The televised version of the Indiana State School Music Association's marching band state finals will be broadcast on WNIT-TV Thanksgiving Day from Noon to 2:00 p.m.
Include the Plymouth Band with your holiday festivities. All state finalist bands will be shown.

Day family is very thankful

PLYMOUTH — Nineteen-year-old Eric Day and his family will be celebrating Thanksgiving with a renewed sense of how much family, friends and a caring community truly mean.
After an ordeal that started the weekend before Halloween and escalated into two brain surgeries, days in intensive care, and rigorous physical therapy, Eric is finally home. 
Eric had come home from Indiana State College in Terre Haute, where he is a freshman, to pick up a suit for an interview.

Lake Patrol officers cut

CULVER — Familiar faces in Culver’s Lake Patrol — most with lengthy careers in the service — will no longer patrol the waters of Lake Maxinkuckee or the roads around it following a vote by the Lake Maxinkuckee Association’s board of directors to keep the patrol in line with best practices and procedures for law and emergency enforcement.

Time in Plymouth helped shape career

PLYMOUTH — For one Plymouth High School grad the world certainly has been her open book.
An exchange student at Plymouth in the class of 1980, Milene Ferrazza Thomas took what her time in the United States was able to teach her and made the most of it. Her work in psychology and with an NGO in Brazil has given her a chance to impact lives all over the world.
Milene says that her time in Plymouth changed her forever.
