BREMEN — Paul H. Snyder, 79, of Bremen, passed away suddenly at Memorial Hospital, South Bend on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014.
Paul was born June 27, 1935 in LaPaz to Solomon and Cecelia (Boone) Snyder. In the LaPaz Church of God on Dec. 20, 1952, Paul and the love of his life, Yvonne C. Conley were married by the Rev. Allen Combs.  
This union ushered into this world four wonderful children: Dr. Frank Alan (Kathy) Snyder of Bremen, Timothy Kevin (Monique) Snyder, Kenneth Paul Snyder, and Cathy Lynette (Michael) VanZant

State Education Supertintendent visits Plymouth School

PLYMOUTH — On Wednesday Weidner School of Inquiry (WSOI) received a special visit by Indiana’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, Glenda Ritz.

Ritz visited the school to personally view the WWII Veterans videos sophomore students worked on as part of a project with the Marshall County HIstorical Museum.

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Dan Coats (R-IN), a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, tonight issued the following statement after President Obama’s speech about the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL):

“The president’s speech was a sharp, welcome reversal to his previous comments on foreign policy. He has finally grasped the true nature of the threat that ISIL poses, and his response to begin the process of taking down this so-called caliphate is welcome news.

Coroner asks for additional funds

MARSHALL COUNTY — The Marshall County Council held their regular meeting Monday and learned about the cost of running the coroner’s office.

The Marshall County Coroner requested an additionally $26,500 in funding. Of that $21,000 is for autopsy supplies, $4,000 for toxicology, $1,000 for radiology and $500 for morgue supplies.

“We came to request an additional appropriation initially because we are already at a deficit of approximately $5,000,” said Bill Cleavenger, coroner. “Since that request for additional appropriations, we have had an additional three autopsies.”

Riverside Intermediate students take on self-discovery

PLYMOUTH — Riverside Intermediate was a flurry of activity in the sixth grade as the 100 students gathered to present personal projects detailing who they were on Sept. 9.

Titled “Who Am I?”, the project based learning (PBL) project gave students an opportunity to examine their lives and the event, people, places, and things that made them unique.

Teaching students to aim for the sky

PLYMOUTH — Teaching school children how to build a plane may become a possibility if a proposal from Plymouth Airport Manager Dave Lattimer is successful.

At the Aviation Commission meeting Sept. 9, Lattimer discussed his idea with the board. In an effort to help school children with their engineering skills, Lattimer proposed an educational program that teaches students how to build an airplane.
