LAKEVILLE — Four people are running for two spots on the Union-North United School Board. They are: Michael Berger and Patricia Blount for the North Township seat and Dennis Graf and Larry Ort for the Union Township (St. Joseph County) seat. Ort is the only incumbent.

Graf is up for election in the race for Union-North United School Corporation board. Graf is running for the Union Township seat from St. Joseph County. This is the first time that he has run for school board.
PLYMOUTH — Temperatures may be cooler, but the dry conditions remain around the area. Residents are advised that Marshall County’s burn ban also remains in place.
To date, the ban has not been lifted and will not be for some time if weather conditions do not improve. Marshall County Emergency Management Agency Director Clyde Avery advised the Pilot News that he had passed on recommendations to the Marshall County Commissioners from three area fire chiefs recommending that the ban remain in effect.

CULVER — Less than 7 minutes into the game, it was plain to see this one would be a war.
Whiting and Culver both scored on their first two possessions to put the score at 14-all by the 5:34 mark of the first frame, and even with the Cavaliers leading 42-21 with just over 8 minutes on the game clock, the outcome was still up for grabs.
GOSHEN — A good portion of the Bremen football team was in diapers the last time the program won a sectional championship in 1997. Next Friday night, the Lions will have their chance to end the drought.
Braxton Miller (207) and Brock Molebash (130) combined for 337 of Bremen’s 416 rushing yards as Bremen advanced to the Sectional 26 title game with a 42-14 win over Fairfield.
“They came out and executed the game plan flawlessly,” Bremen coach Bob Holmes said. “The coaching staff also did an outstanding job getting them ready like they have all year.”
CULVER – Mason Zurek ran for 113 yards, Demetri Blanco added 112 and Rick Johnston scored two touchdowns as Andrean ran over Culver Military 41-0 in a Sectional 17 semifinal Friday at the Academies.
The 59’ers rushed for 463 yards on 44 carries for a 10.5-yard-per-carry average and 19 first downs.
Andrean fumbled five times in the first half, losing three, including one in the end zone, but the Eagles were unable to convert those miscues into points.
Ralph Laux had 46 yards rushing for CMA, which closes out the season at 4-7.
BOURBON — Triton's football team darn near matched South Central yard for yard Friday.
Point for point, though, posed a more daunting challenge.
Although South Central accumulated just 35 more total yards than Triton — 375-340 — the Trojans' season-long nemesis struck particularly hard.
Beset by three first-half turnovers in Satellites turf, including Ricky Rigsby's 78-yard interception return for a South Central touchdown, the host Trojans ended their season with a 47-20 loss in Class A Sectional 33 second-round play.
NEW CARLISLE — The Glenn Wing-T rushing attack had three modes of
operation in Friday's Class 3A Sectional 17 semifinal victory.
Over, around and through.
Led by senior Collin Howard and junior Josh Anderson, the Falcons
rumbled for 324 yards in a 34-0 victory over host New Prairie.
The Falcons (9-2) play Andrean, a 41-0 winner over Culver Military
Academy, in next week's sectional championship.
Howard led Glenn with 10 rushes for 168 yards and four touchdown runs.
Anderson rushed 10 times for 103 yards and one touchdown.

MISHAWAKA — Lloyd “Hap” Morris, age 91, of Mishawaka, passed away at 3:44 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at the Sanctuary At Holy Cross, in South Bend.Â
Hap was born Jan. 1, 1919, in Plymouth, to Lloyd H. and Erma K. (Humrichouser) Morris.
On April 26, 1947, Hap married the former Rosalee “Rosie” Wolfarth.

ROCHESTER — Eleanor I. Crum, age 80, of 827 West 13th St., Rochester passed away at 3:45 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, at the Life Care Center, in Rochester.Â
She is survived by her daughters, Kim (Charles) Hostetler of Plymouth, and Leslie Duncan of Ohio; her son, Mark (fiancĂ©e Kayla Braatz of Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and expecting one; and her brother, Kenneth Johnson of California.Â
There will be no visitation or funeral.
Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 West Madison Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563, handled the arrangements.
PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth High School marching band — Pride of Plymouth — made Plymouth High School history last week by becoming the first-ever marching band from Plymouth to qualify for the Indiana State School Music Association’s Marching Band state finals.
The band is under the direction of Bryan Ames and Lisa Wallyn.  Guard director is Nikki Horner.  Drum majors for the band are Tori MacLain, Elizabeth Wolford, Addie Palmer and Stephen John-son.
