Caroline M. ‘Doll’ Mikel

BREMEN — Caroline M. “Doll” Mikel, 69, of Bremen, died at 12:44 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2012 in her residence.
Caroline was affectionately known as “Doll” for her exquisite beauty.
Caroline was born Jan. 9, 1943 in Bremen, to John and Nellie Ruth (Tomlinson) Knoblock. She was a 1961 graduate of Bremen High School.
Nov. 24, 1961 in the First United Church of Bremen, she married her soulmate and best friend for 50 plus years, Roger Mikel.
Doll was the owner and operator of the former Little John’s Pizza, of Bremen.

NORTH LIBERTY — Donald E. Zellers, 82, died Friday, March 23, 2012 in Walkerton at the home of his daughter, Carolyn. 
Survivors include: his wife, Thursia; one daughter, Carolyn (Michael) Groves of Walkerton; one son, Donald (Linda) Zellers of North Judson; one brother, Robert (Vera) Zellers of North Liberty; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

BREMEN — Orville L. Linderman, 82, of Bremen, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Community Hospital of Bremen. He was born Aug. 25, 1929 in Ober to Frank and Chloe (Hall) Linderman.

DONALDSON — Sister S. Leandra Welling, a member of the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ, Donaldson, 86, died Wednesday, March 21 in the Catherine Kasper Life Center.
She is survived by two sisters, Eloise Seger of Trenton, Ill., and Ann Bolk of Carlyle, Ill.
Visitation will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 23 in the Chapel of Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson where a Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24.
Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery on the grounds of Ancilla Domini.

KOONTZ LAKE — (Martha) Carol Finley, 75, of Koontz Lake, died at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at home after a lingering illness.
Martha Carol Brown was born Sept. 6, 1936 to Arthur and Martha (Thomson) Brown in Indianapolis. Her family moved to Marion, where she was graduated from Marion High School in 1954. She continued her studies at St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, where she was inducted into Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau.

BOURBON — The family of Mildred Craig will receive friends Tuesday, March 27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home, 115 S. Main St., Bourbon.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Parks Cemetery at Bourbon.

WALKERTON — Harriett Janus Klinedinst, 98, of Reading, Mich. and formerly of Walkerton, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility in Hillsdale, Mich. Harriett was born Jan. 7, 1914 in North Liberty to Fred C. and Catherine (Kilburg) Krick.
Dec. 9, 1961 she married Forest William Klinedinst. He preceded her in death April 6, 1981.

PLYMOUTH — Willard George “Will” Messman, 80, a Plymouth resident since 1993, formerly of Walkerton, died unexpectedly at 11:02 a.m. of natural causes at his Lincoln Highway residence Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
Will was born in LaPorte Nov. 17, 1931. He attended the Lutheran School in LaPorte and served in the United States Army in the Korean War.
Jan. 25, 1997, in Walkerton, Will and Martha I. (Pointon) Bunton were married.

PLYMOUTH — Victor E. “Vic” Stockman, passed into the presence of his Savior at 12:59 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 in Pilgrim Manor following an illness. He was 84 years old but rarely let that stand in his way.
A lifelong Plymouth resident and community leader, Vic, a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, lived on Hope Boulevard since 1960.

Culver firefighters assist in southern Ind.

CULVER — Six Culver men — five volunteer firefighters and one local resident — spent the March 10 weekend in southern Indiana assisting communities there with cleanup after tornados devastated the area March 2. They returned with sober thoughts on weather phenomenon and how the Culver community would handle such a disaster.
