PLYMOUTH — Eight years ago, Plymouth Police Department Cpl. Bridget (Strong) Hite set out to do two things.
The first was to gather needed items for the children in the community who lacked the necessary winter protection and second, to show the community that the police are there to serve wherever they can.
As she drove around town on patrol, Hite noticed day after day that kids were walking and standing in snow covered sidewalks with nothing but wet shoes on.
PLYMOUTH — The county will take a look at government buildings and energy use in the coming months.
Mark Heirbrandt, of Ameresco came before the Marshall County Commissioners to discuss an energy audit for the county's buildings.
Commissioners Jack Roose and Kevin Overmyer had met with Heirbrandt at a recent conference and discussed the possibility of Ameresco performing the audit on county properties.
Ameresco will take two years of county utility bills for each building to examine trends.
PLYMOUTH — Dedication is a common theme to excellence at anything.
Plymouth Rockie Calvin Eads is proof of that belief as the senior linebacker has been honored by the Indiana Football Coaches Association and the Indianapolis Colts as an Indiana Academic All Star Team member. Calvin is a first team defensive member and joins an elite group of 24 players around the state so honored. He is one of only three Class 4A athletes to be selected and he and his peers will will be honored in Indianapolis on December 19 at halftime of the Colts’ home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

PLYMOUTH — Elizabeth Ann Wright, 58, of The Hertford House, Plymouth, died Dec. 1, 2010 at 1:55 p.m. at her residence.
May 2, 1956 – Dec. 4, 2010
BOURBON — Lisa Joanelle (Harman) Koontz, 54, Center Street, Bourbon, died Saturday Dec. 4, 2010 of natural causes at her residence.
She was born May 2, 1956 in Rochester, to Thomas W. and Joan Lynn “Jody” Cullum Harman.
She was part owner in the family printing business Harmony Marketing Group, Bourbon.
She was a 1974 graduate of Mentone High School, Lisa loved cooking and helping cater meals. She also had a great love of animals. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 424 in Bourbon.

CULVER — F. William “Bill” Snyder, 79, a lifelong resident of Culver, passed away at 11 p.m. Dec 1, 2010 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver surrounded by his loving family. He was passionate about his family, the Culver community and “making the world a stronger, better place.”
He was born Aug 13, 1931 in Culver, the fourth child of Paul T. and Bernice (Crabb) Snyder and remained a lifelong resident and enthusiastic Culver community supporter.

Plymouth — Nancy Rose Cox, 77, of Plymouth, Ind., passed away at the Lifecare Center of Rochester December 3rd, 2010 at 7:45 p.m. She had battled Alzheimer’s disease for the latter part of her life.
Nancy was the daughter of Arthur and Eva Roach of Rockville, Ind. She was one of eight children.
BREMEN — Every December for the last 30 years the Bremen community gets together to recreate a miracle: the Holy Walk.
For an event to bring together over 200 volunteers, involving area churches of varying denominations for the last 30 years is also a miracle. This miracle is due in large part to the Huff family. Jim, his wife Loretta, son Max Huff and his wife Linda have lent their farm, time and leadership to this event every year. Each year people from all over the region and from other countries come to experience this unique event.
PLYMOUTH — Tuesday, Dec. 7, at the Plymouth vs. Tippecanoe Valley basketball game, a dedicated group of Plymouth High School students will be “rocking” the night away for Eric Day.
Day is a 2010 PHS graduate and very involved in the community. He works at the little league baseball diamond umpiring and loves to be a role model for young boys. Day is recovering from recent brain surgeries and complications from them.
Day also has had to receive physical therapy during his recovery process.
Leo ‘Frenchie’ Levesque

WALKERTON — Leo Paul Levesque (Frenchie), 79, of Walkerton, died at 9:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2010, at the Community Hospital of Bremen.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine “Jeri” Levesque; daughters: Valerie A. Wolfe of Goshen, Shelia S. (Phillip) Kennedy of South Bend, and Gail D. (Leonard) Sargent of Plymouth; a son, Leo R. Levesque of Walkerton; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Gagne of Ocala, Fla.; and his brother, Henry Levesque of California.
