New exhibit coming in February for Heartland Artists Gallery

January 25, 2012

PLYMOUTH — Elkhart-based painter Michael Janowski’s work will be on display in February at the Heartland Artists Gallery in downtown Plymouth. Janowski, who initially started in art with drawing, said that he enjoys realistically depicting textures and fine detail with pastels.
“I could sit for hours upon end painting and not realize the time," said Janowski. "For me, the most time consuming part of the painting process is in the initial composition, not the painting.”

City engineer praised for work

January 25, 2012

PLYMOUTH — City Engineer Rick Gaul received several compliments on his work for the City during a council meeting this week.
Gaul had given members of the board end-of-year –report that showed a total of 2,463 hours that he had worked. Although not on the Public Works Board, Council Member Mike Delp asked if he could address the report.
Delp said, "I’m not complaining."
He then said the number of hours worked was up from 2,080 in the year before.
“There are 300 plus hours that you essentially donated,” Delp said.
Gaul is a salaried employee and does not qualify for overtime pay.

Boy, Yeo, Boy! Triton’s Clay Yeo powers Trojans past Cougars

January 24, 2012

LAKEVILLE — Last week’s snow-outs forced Clay Yeo to wait two extra days to break the 1,000-point barrier.
No big deal, breaking the mark at the Bi-County championship just made it that much more special for the Triton junior.
Yeo put up a season-high 39 points to complement 10 rebounds and four assists, including 22 of Class A No. 5 Triton’s last 24 points, and the Trojans held off a scrappy New Prairie challenge to earn their third straight title in a 68-66 championship thriller at the 47th annual tournament championship Monday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium at LaVille.

LAKEVILLE — It hadn’t even been a week since the Oregon-Davis got star player Jesse Avarone back.
When the sophomore combo player went down again with an ankle injury early in the third quarter Monday, the Class A No. 6 Lady Cats rallied around her, unseating defending champion Culver 49-36 to retake the Bi-County title Monday at Dale E. Cox Gymnasium at LaVille.
