It's Culver Academies Parents Weekend, and that means a number of annual events across the community highlight the weekend, including...
TOWN WIDE YARD SALE FRI, SAT
PLYMOUTH â The Lincoln Jr. High Auditorium will become Sherwood Forest for an evening as the schoolâs theater department presents the play Robin Hood.
The show opens Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln Junior High Auditorium. The show is one hour in length. Tickets are 4 dollars for adults and 2 dollars for children.
NASHVILLE â Christian music has handed out itâs version of the Grammyâs - known as the Dove Awards - and a familiar face to Plymouth walked away from the event with his first honor.
Denver Bierman and the Mile High Orchestra took their first Dove Award in the category of âBest Childrenâs Album of the Yearâ won by the bands latest offering entitled âGroovyâ. The project is a collection of kids songs written and performed in the bands distinct style that is as popular with parents as it is their children.
PLYMOUTH â Plymouth offensive lineman Dan Samuelson has committed to play football at the University of Pittsburgh next fall.
Samuelson, a 6-foot-5, 290-pound guard, is the fourth player to verbally commit to Pitt's 2013 recruiting class.
Pitt is a Division I program making a move from the Big East to the Atlantic Coast Conference following the ACC's formal acceptance of both Pitt and Syracuse in September. The Panthers finished with a record of 6-7 last season ending with a 28-6 loss to Southern Methodist in the BBVA Compass Bowl Jan. 7.
PLYMOUTH â Marissa Sullivan returned to the Plymouth line-up Wednesday night and made her presence felt in all aspects of the game.
Unfortunately, it wasnât enough to get the win.
The Lady Pilgrim senior had missed the teamâs last three games due to an ankle injury and made up for her time away by going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a triple and pitching her way to 10 strikeouts in a 4-2 loss to the visiting Wawasee Warriors at home.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. â Bremen High School graduate Andy Wagner was recently named the Southeastern Conference Video Coordinator of the Year by the Collegiate Sports Video Association for his work with the University of Arkansas football team.
As SEC winner, Wagner is now a finalist to be named the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year at the 18th Annual Collegiate Sports Video Conference May 14-17 in Indianapolis.
Wagner is in his fifth season with the Razorbacks as the Director of Sports Video.
LaVille hands Lions 1st NSC loss
Justin Baker struck out 11 while giving up just two hits for two runs in a complete outing, and LaVille gave visiting Bremen its first Northern State Conference loss of the year, 5-2 at Lakeville Wednesday.
Trenton Priser and Anthony Singleton both doubled for LaVille, which moved to an even 6-6 with a 3-2 league mark.
Eric Knepper went 1-for-2 officially with an inside the park ohm run in the fifth for the Lions, who slip to 6-4 with a 3-1 NSC record.

PLYMOUTH â Walmart in Plymouth was recently voted "Store of the Year" by the corporation's Illinois-based distribution center truck drivers. Three of the drivers visited the store Wednesday to hold a cookout for store employees as a gesture of gratitude for their hard work.
"(The award) is because of their consistent attention to detail," said one of the drivers, Steve Schlumpf. "Employees have the trailers unloaded in a timely fashion, they follow up by sweeping the trailers, and the inside of the store is always clean."
PLYMOUTH â Sometimes there is nothing like a visual example to help learning. The Plymouth High School Leaders Eliminating Alcohol and Drugs (LEAD) club hopes that will be the case Thursday.
The club will be holding a mock crash at 10 a.m. in front of the High School to be witnessed by the student body. Students, teachers, sheriffâs deputies, firefighters and emergency medical technicians will be participating in the event, which will include real wrecked automobiles, an ambulance, deputy cruisers, fire trucks and a helicopter.
