LAPAZ â The Briar Patch in LaPaz will hold its fourth annual folk art show and sale Saturday, June 30. About 15 vendors will have their work displayed, and items include vintage, handcrafted, and antique items.
"For the last four years we have held this show in an attempt to showcase local artisans and encourage folks to visit Marshall County", said Phyllis Horvath owner of The Briar Patch. "I believe that small hometown festivals are making a comeback, folks crave the Mayberry days of wandering around the 'county fair' and seeing what their neighbors have to offer."
PLYMOUTH - Literally hundreds of Plymouth Alumni began the reunion season with the largest celebration of Plymouth grads of the year at the annual Plymouth Alumni Association Alumni Banquet.
As one of the highlights of the evening the Association welcomed Suellen Glaub Long and Dr. Robert O. Vore and posthumously Dr. Arthur Becknell Jr., into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame and celebrated the PHS class of 1962 as part of their 50th class reunion. As part of the celebration Pat Felke spoke on behalf of Plymouthâs latest graduating class of 2012.

PLYMOUTH âÂ NASCAR champ Tony Stewart arrived for a much-anticipated Sprints On Dirt race Saturday at Plymouth Speedway â just in time to watch showers move in and postpone the event.
Stewart, who flew in to the Plymouth Airport after a mandatory practice at Michigan International Speedway was called for 6 p.m. in Brooklyn, Mich., was as disappointed as his fans in the nearly sold-out crowd that Mother Nature was not cooperating with the trackâs planned events.
INDIANAPOLIS â Tritonâs Clay Yeo scored 12 points as one of six Indiana Junior All-Stars in double figures as the Hoosiers beat Kentucky 126-103 at Heritage Christian School Friday night.
Also from the area, Pennâs Leo Svete finished with 10 points in the win as both Indianaâs boys and girls junior teams topped their Kentucky counterparts.
The Hoosier boys converted 13 3-pointers and made 19-of-22 free throws in the comfortable decision.
Kentucky took an early lead, but Indiana rebounded to seize a 63-57 advantage at intermission of the game with two 20-minute halves.
Post 27 finishes 3rd at Terre Haute tourney
Plymouth Post 27 dimed Bristol Post 243 in five innings, 17-3 Sunday after splitting a doubleheader with Lafayette Post 11 and Evansville Post 265 to finish third at the Terre Haute Amercian Legion Tournament.
Post 27 took advantage of 11 walks and five errors and collected 10 hits en route to the victory Sunday.
Lake Maxinkuckee Environmental Council executive director Kathy Clark had an idea running through her mind for several years. While she enjoyed all the great events of Lake Fest weekend, something directly involving the lake seemed to be missing.
This year, with the help of environmental council members and Lake Maxinkuckee Association executive director Jane Grund, that idea has morphed into the first ever Canoe, Kayak & SUP Poker Run on Lake Maxinkuckee, to be held Friday, July 20 from 5 pm to 8 p.m.
