PLYMOUTH â Mildred E. Thompson Books, 96, died Monday morning, March 7, 2011 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth due to natural causes.
Arrangements are pending with the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.

BOURBON â Triton faces a historically tough field as the regional round of the 101st Annual IHSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament convenes this weekend.
The Trojans (20-3) take on Pioneer (15-9) in the afternoon game following the tournament opener between Morgan Township (19-4) and Fort Wayne Canterbury (17-4) with the championship slated for 7:30 p.m. EST.
If recent history is any indicator, the ultimate prize could be even bigger than a regional title. The past four champions eventually went on to the Class A state finals, where three of the four claimed state supremacy.

The Culver-Union Township Public Library is on its way to accepting credit card payments for overdue fines, damages, and other fees patrons may incur, following a vote February 15 at the library boardâs regular monthly meeting.
PLYMOUTH â Two weeks ago Culver Community made program history with its first-ever regional girls basketball championship.
On Saturday, neighboring Culver Military Academies bucked its own historical trend, capturing its first sectional championship since joining the IHSAA state series 36 years ago, with a 66-57 victory over South Bend St. Josephâs in the Class 3A Sectional 19 final at Plymouth.
BOURBON â Westvilleâs Kevin Stone-Tharp pulled down Clay Yeo from behind in the third quarter, depriving the Triton star of one of his patented breakaway dunks.
That was about the only thing denied Yeo and the No. 2 Trojans Saturday.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore forward scored 20 of his game-high 28 points in the first half, hauled in seven rebounds and swarmed the floor defensively to lead Triton to its fourth straight Class A Boys Basketball Sectional 50 crown, 65-37 over the Blackhawks at The Trojan Trench Saturday.
TOPEKA â Bremen played its best quarter of the season in Saturdayâs Class 2A sectional final against host Westview. Unfortunately for the Lions, it couldnât make up for the first half.
Down 18 points at halftime, Bremen cut Westviewâs lead to four in the third quarter. The Lions got no closer, as Justin Jantziâs 30 points propelled the No. 7 Warriors to a 56-46 victory.
To Bremen coach Kyle Hanyzewski, the competitive loss coupled with Fridayâs win over Fairfield showed what the Lions could do with the proper mindset.

COLUMBIA CITY â Robert L. Adams, 93, of Sebring, Fla. died March 3, 2011. He had lived at the Palms of Sebring and was receiving Good Shepherd Hospice Care.
He was born in Van Buren Township, Putnam County, Ohio to Virgil and Ruth Adams. The family moved to Indiana in 1927 and Robert graduated from LaPaz High School, Lapaz, Ind. in 1935.
Herbert L. âRedâ Gaddis, Sr.

MICHIGAN CITY â Mr. Herbert L. âRedâ Gaddis Sr., age 80, of Michigan City, Ind. and formerly of Walkerton, Ind, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 peacefully in his sleep at St. Anthony Memorial Health Center.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 9, at 11 a.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City.
Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Walkerton.
Martha Wilcox

PLYMOUTH â Martha D. Wilcox, 96, of W. Jackson Street, Plymouth, Ind., passed away Friday, March 4, 2011, at 11:32 a.m., at her home.
She was born Aug. 7, 1914, in Bremen, Ind., to Grover and Ida (Coyle) Rensberger. Martha and Sylvester L. Wilcox were married June 30, 1951. Sylvester passed away Dec. 27, 1991. Martha was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sunday, at 6:39 a.m. near the intersection of U.S. 30 and Rose Road, Marshall County police and Plymouth fire/paramedics responded to a rollover crash.
Michael Landau, 62, of Canby, Oregon, was later treated for leg and back/neck pain after the single-vehicle crash.
Landau was traveling east on U.S. 30 when he lost control on the ice-covered road surface. He slid off the highway on the south side, going down a small embankment and rolling over several times before coming to rest on the driverâs side.
