CULVER â Even with repeat Marshall County Golf Tournament titles and a veteran roster with everyone back from last yearâs state finals-qualifying squad, Triton wasnât taking any chances.
The Trojans got in a practice round at Mystic Hills Friday, then went on to defend their Marshall County title at the Culver course Saturday, easily beating second-place John Glenn by 30 strokes with a tourney-record-setting 304 in spite of gusty winds and a saturated course.

PLYMOUTH â Another complete pitching performance, another flawless defensive effort, another Northern Lakes Conference win.
Jordan Scheetz pitched a three-hit, one-walk shutout going the distance, and the Pilgrims defense backed him up with its second straight errorless NLC outing as Plymouth stayed unbeaten in the conference with a 7-0 victory over visiting NorthWood at Bill Nixon Field Friday.
Scheetz allowed only seven total runners on base in a super-efficient 78 pitches as the Pilgrims got their second straight complete game after Richie Luvaâs win over Wawasee Thursday.
PLYMOUTH â Three wins in three days.
The rain has played havoc with Plymouthâs Northern Lakes Conference schedule, but its hasnât been as devastating to the Lady Pilgrims as theyâve been to their NLC foes.
Up against a condensed stretch of conference meets, Plymouth earned its third straight win in as many days with a 4-1 conquest of visiting Concord at home Friday, following back-to-back home wins over Elkhart Memorial and Warsaw to move the Pilgrims to 4-0 in the NLC and 7-1 on the season.
Cafe Max owner Susie Mahler wants to assure customers the recent addition of a bar at the longstanding Culver institution is no cause for alarm.
âNo, itâs not getting changed into a âhoochie bar,ââ she says with a smile. âThere will be no pole dancers, male or female!â
She points out Cafe Max has served beer for about 10 years and had a three-way liquor license for a year and a half. She says the bar, which was installed over two days last week during which the restaurant was closed, is largely about increasing night dining to the establishment.

KNOX â Evelyn Marsh, 88, of Leesburg, Fla., formerly of Knox, died Sunday, April 24, in her home.Â
She is survived by sons, Ralph (Sue) Marsh of Leesburg, Fla. and George Marsh of Terre Haute; daughters: Marilyn Rzonca of Lake Worth, Fla., Evelyn (Bruce) Nevins of Leesburg, Fla. and Joan (John) McGrath of Knox; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Jean Dumas of Arizona and Loretta Rarick of Warsaw; and one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sue Marsh of Lake Worth, Fla.

KOONTZ LAKE â Robert H. Ferguson, 79, passed away Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, Ind. Ferguson was born July 8, 1931 in Chicago, Ill. to Howard and Evelyn (Houser) Ferguson.Â
He is survived by his very special friend, Frances Christy. Also surviving are his good friends, William and Nina Belk and many more friends from the Hoosier Old Wheels Car Club.Â

PLYMOUTH â The Plymouth Chamber of Commerce is bringing back an old city favorite to the downtown.
Once again downtown merchants will be hosting the âPlymouth Rock of Gold.â The promotion that was a downtown favorite in the â60s, â70s and â80s, returns with more deals and prizes just like the first go around.
âLots of people who grew up in Plymouth remember the Rock of Gold,â said Chamber of Commerce Board member Anna Corbett. âWe have a whole new generation now that will get to know it.â

PLYMOUTH â Plymouth Mayor incumbent Mark Senter (R) will run unopposed until the November election, when the winner of Tony Gamble and Jim Vinall will run for the office.
Vinall feels that infrastructure, housing, and planning for the future are things that Vinall says would be keys in his administration.

PLYMOUTH â Three men will vie for the chance to run to be the Mayor of Plymouth in the coming local election. Incumbent Republican Mark Senter will face the winner of Tony Gamble and Jim Vinall, who will square off for the Democratic Party spot for the office.
Gamble has run in what he calls an âauthentic manner.â
âI feel it is important that they (Plymouth citizens) know and understand me for the person that I am,â he said. âI will not campaign with a big budget, but rather with hard work, and a big heart.â
PLYMOUTH â Plymouth was competitive but took a pair of Northern Lakes Conference losses to Northridge and Goshen at home on Senior Night.
Northridge topped the pile with a 72-60 win over Goshen, while the Redskins split with an 85-47 win over the Pilgrims. Plymouth fared better in the Raiders match-up but still fell 74-58 in the rainy, windy and cold conditions Thursday.
