CULVER âÂ Patrick Byrne McCarthy, 78, of Culver, passed away peacefully at the Center for Hospice Care in South Bend at 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2014.
Pat was born on March 15, 1935 in Cook County, Ill. to the late Joseph and Marguerite McCarthy. He graduated from Culver High School in 1952, and for a short time attended DePaul University in Chicago.Â

Feb. 7, 1922 â March 11, 2014
PLYMOUTH â Donald Kenneth Neidig, 92, a Plymouth resident and longtime businessman, passed away Tuesday afternoon, March 11, 2014 at his residence.
Don was born in Bourbon on Feb. 7, 1922, the son of Harold J. and Trella (Lemler) Neidig.
He was a 1940 graduate of Lincoln High School, Plymouth, with the class of 1940. Don also graduated from Manchester College with a degree in business administration.

CULVER âÂ Ryan Charles Smith, 52, of Culver, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 10, 2014.
Ryan was born to Richard Smith and Nancy (Hott) Curtis on April 23, 1961 in Rochester. After graduating from Culver Community High School in 1979, Ryan met, fell in love and married Jacqueline McCune on Sept. 29, 1984. Together they raised three beautiful children.

NORTH JUDSON â Jess Mullins, 88, died Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at the IU Health Starke Hospital. Arrangements are pending with the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, Plymouth.
LAPAZ â The family affect by Tuesday's house fire suffered the loss of their home, personal belongings, and family pets including beloved pitbull, Betty Lou and several cats. The family members were treated and released for smoke inhalation include Jenn Kaser and grandmother Mary Batcho.
Batcho's son-in-law Stanley Kaser is currently still being treated for smoke inhalation and throat issues at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Kaser is expected to be released soon. Kaser's wife MaryJo was not at home at the time because she had left shortly before for work.
MARSHALL COUNTY â Students got another snow day, county and city crews hit the streets with snow plows again,some residents lost power and others lost control of their cars.

ARGOS âÂ Kenneth âKennyâ E. Garver, 61, passed away at 10:10 a.m., Monday, March 10, 2014 at IU Health, Goshen. Kenny was born July 10, 1952 in Fulton County to the late George Robert and Virginia Mae (Wagoner) Garver and lived most of his life in the Argos area. He worked as a truck driver, bartender and mechanic.
