Marshall County Jail Bookings for July 24

•Susan Jean Schlemmer, 28 of Bremen was arrested by Bremen Police at 3:05 p.m. on July 23 for operating a motor vehicle without ever receiving a license.
•Dakota Lee Young, 19 of Tippecanoe was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 5:09 p.m. on July 23 for failure to appear.
•Rodney Kurin Taylor, 19 of South Bend was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 9:25 p.m. on July 23 for possession of marijuana.
•Rachel Susan Waggoner, 38 of Plymouth was arrested by Plymouth Police at 11:15 p.m. on July 23 for public intoxication.

Seven arrested for alleged meth operations

PLYMOUTH - Seven people are in jail after officers served a search warrant on a suspected methamphetamine operation in Plymouth.

Monday morning officers of the undercover narcotics investigation team, the Indiana State Police and Plymouth Police served a search warrant on N. 4th Street in Plymouth.

The arrest report and official charges in the arrest are still pending through the Marshall County Prosecutors Office.

Kroger employee retiring after four decades

PLYMOUTH - Kroger in Plymouth said goodbye to an old friend who has decided to retire.

After 40 years on the job Steve Vervynckt will take it a little easier as he moves into retirement.

“I was working construction and I was looking for a part-time job,” he said of his early days at the store. “They made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse. Forty years later here we are.”

In that time Vervynckt served the store in several capacities, beginning on the night shift.

Plea deal proposed in attempted murder

PLYMOUTH - A case of violence against a former girlfriend has brought a plea agreement in Marshall Superior Court I.

Chase Anglemyer of Wakarusa and the State submitted a plea agreement to Judge Robert O. Bowen of Marshall Superior Court I in a case of violence against a former girlfriend in Bremen that resulted in Anglemyer’s arrest.

Sweet Potato Turnovers

This recipe is dairy free and can be vegan if you use the vegan butter as suggested.

Ingredients:

3 packages frozen puff pastry, thawed according to package
5 or 6 small/medium sweet potatoes, cubed and boiled until fork tender
1 head roasted garlic
½ cup + 2 Tbsp Dairy Free Unsweetened Coconut Milk
ÂĽ cup vegan butter
3 Tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
1 Tbsp maple syrup
2 Tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

PLYMOUTH — Mary Ann Penrose, 80, died of natural causes at 11:20 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She is survived by five daughters, Debra Freed and Donna (Mel) Hawkins, both of Nappanee; Laura (Phil) England and Michallie (Steve) Forsythe, both of Bremen and Linda Lee Hoffman of Maryland; two sons, David (Ellen) Staton of Plymouth and Jason Allen (Debra) Penrose of Bremen; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Open casting for Culver-filmed movie this Saturday

An open casting call for the movie, "Little Savages," slated for shooting in Culver in August, has been announced by representatives of Bearfruit Films (http://www.bearfruitfilms.com). The casting call will take place this Saturday, July 27 at Culver Community Middle School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Producers are looking for males and females of all ages for small speaking roles as well as background talent.

State Highway department announces SR 10 closure

STARKE/MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the closure of State Road 10, between SR 23 and SR 17 beginning Wednesday, July 24 through the end of the day Thursday, July 25.

Crews will perform a chip seal and fog seal operation to preserve the road surface. This project is dependent on dry weather and may be delayed if conditions aren’t ideal.
