PLYMOUTH âÂ Jorjanna L. Miller, age 49, of Plymouth, passed away at 9:41 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013, at her home.
Jorjanna was born Oct. 2, 1963, in Fort Dix, N.J., to Robert B. and Lottie J. (Hibbard) Jernigan. Jorjanna became the bride of James Miller, in La Paz, on Oct. 12, 2006. She worked at Volcano Pizza in Elkhart, and was a member of the Maxinkuckee Rebekah Lodge #844.

HAMLET â Peter W. Godin, 66, died Sunday, July 14, 2013 in Summit County, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; three daughters, Jennifer (Mike) Sharp of Kalamazoo, Mich. and Kristin (Chris) DeSalle and Sara (Brad) Linerode, all of Ellettsville; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Sally (Terry) Oness of Portage.
CULVER â The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced it will close SR 17 in the Culver area tomorrow and Friday.
SR 17 will be closed between SR 10 and SR 8. Crews will be rehabbing the road.
The official detour is SR 10 to SR 23 to SR 8, and vice versa for the other direction.
This project is dependent on dry weather, so it could be delayed if conditions aren't ideal, according to IDOT.

PLYMOUTH â Several everyday things that we take for granted today had their beginnings at the Columbian Exposition in 1893. And Argos first-grade teacher Jenny Harness is ready to share her expertise about this important event at a lunchtime brown bag presentation tomorrow at the Marshall County History Museum.
CULVER â Marshall County Deputy Coroners Ann Leed and Brigette Hite confirmed Tuesday afternoon that preliminary autopsy results on 22-year -old Valentine Sirghi of Plymouth died as a result of asphyxiation due to drowning.
Sirghi drowned Sunday evening abouut 7:30 p.m. while swimming in Lake Maxinkuckee at Culver Town Park. He was under water for about 30 minutes, before his body was recovered and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased that same evening.
POLK - Several local agencies battled a blaze Tuesday morning on Redwood Road.
At around 9:30 a.m. Polk Township Fire Department responded to a fire at 2923 Redwood Road that started in a garage and spread to the attached home.
Polk Township arrived on the scene and began to fight the blaze. Conditions at their arrival were heavy black smoke and flames coming from the two story home, according to reports. The fire had started in the garage, according to the emergency dispatch, but had spread to the home by the time crews arrived on the scene.
Try this alternative to conventional potato salads for a different taste on a summer food classic.
5 -6 red potatoes, unpeeled
salt & pepper, to taste
1 pint sour cream
1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
2 green onions, sliced
1/2 bag of recipe ready bacon bits
1. Cut potatoes into bite sized pieces.
2. Boil for about 12 minutes or until fork tender.
3. Drain potatoes and allow to cool completely.
4. Add remaining ingredients; all of which can be adjusted to your liking.
MARSHALL COUNTY â The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced road work will begin July 17 in the morning on State Road 10 between State Road 117 and US 31. Road crews are expected to work through completion of the chipping process. Sweeping of the road way will be accomplished over night to prepare for the sealing process to begin on Thursday, July 18.

CULVER âÂ Helen L. Overmyer, 95, of Culver, died at 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Millerâs Merry Manor, assisted living facility, in Plymouth.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, 2013 at Saint Thomas Episcopal Church, 412 N. Center St., Plymouth.
Van Gilder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
