PLYMOUTH - A Bremen man received a maximum sentence in Marshall Superior Court I on Wednesday.
Shawn E. Brown, 27, of Bremen was sentenced Wednesday by Judge Robert O. Bowen to 10 years imprisonment for manufacturing methamphetamine and an additional year of imprisonment for resisting law enforcement.
RECIPE: Zucchini Cheddar Puff
2 lb. zucchini or yellow squash (sliced 1/4 inch thick) 7 cups
1 c. dairy sour cream
2 egg yolk, beaten
2 T. all purpose flour (may use gluten free)
1/2 tsp. onion salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1.5 c. shredded Cheddar
3 egg white
4 T. seasoned bread crumbs (I use GF bread crumbs)
2 tsp. butter
In a medium saucepan, cook squash, covered, in a small amount of water for 3 to 5 minutes. Drain well and spread evenly into a 9X13 pan.
In a bowl, combine sour cream, egg yolk, flour, onion, salt and pepper. Stir in cheese.
â€˘Mark Arron Manzuk, 43 of Mishawaka was arrested by the Indiana State Police at 11:30 a.m. on July 24 for criminal mischief.
â€˘Katlyn Ann Blasko, 21 of Mishawaka was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 7:10 p.m. on July 24 for theft.
â€˘Cleophus Trotter Jr., 24 of South Bend was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 10:10 p.m. on July 24 for driving while suspended.
â€˘Randall George Warren, 43 of LaPaz was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 1:10 a.m. on July 25 for civil contempt.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. â€”Â James David Drake, 67, passed away July 20, 2013 at Shands University of Florida Cancer Center, Gainesville, Fla.
Surviving are his wife, Cathy, three sisters, Judy Bryson, Brevard, N.C., Pat Tomb, Hobart, and Paula Hazen, Plymouth, one stepson Cory See, Rochester and two stepgrandsons, Kaleb and Kaden See, Rochester.

PLYMOUTH â€”Â Kenneth H. â€śKenâ€ť Kiel, 74, of Plymouth died in Kindred Hospital, Mishawaka, following a short and unexpected illness, at 6:31 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
Three male victims were removed from a single vehicle crash on State Road 117 near Culver around 1:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
One victim had to be extricated by firefighters from the vehicle, which apparently missed the curve just west of the Culver Marina at 3000 East Shore Drive near the east shore of Lake Maxinkuckee, and struck a stone wall. That victim, believed to be the driver, was airlifted to South Bend. The other two victims were taken by ambulance to a closer facility.
The names of those involved are not yet known, but updates will follow as more information is known.
PLYMOUTH â€” The Plymouth Post 27 Diamond Spyders are alive again in the American Legion State Baseball Tournament.
After falling in double-elimination at their home sectional last week, the Spyders have been invited back as they host the regional round of tourney play at Bill Nixon Field this weekend. The Spyders will replace Richmond Post 65, which was forced to withdraw from the regional earlier this week.
Post 27 will take on Bristol Post 143 in a nightcap scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday following the tourney opener between Kokomo Post 6 and Highland Post 180 at 4 p.m.
LaVille golfers win in Goshen
A pair of LaVille golfers brought home wins from a Mountain Dew Junior Tour event in Goshen Wednesday.
Zach Gurtner earned his second win in two days with a 3-over 74 at Maplecrest Country Club, topping the boys 17-19 division just a day after his even-par 72 trumped the field at The Brassie in Chesterton. Lauren Read, playing in the 15-16 age group, shot an 86 to win in
Goshen on Wednesday as well.

FINDLAY, Ohio â€”Â Donald C. Hardesty, 88, of Findlay, Ohio passed away at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, Ohio. He was born Sept. 4, 1924, to the late Raymond Earl and Anna (Luken) Hardesty in Hamlet. He married Elizabeth B. Fritz on Sept. 5, 1953 in Mishawaka, and she survives.

BREMEN â€”Â Evelyn Trefun, 97, of Bremen died Monday, July 22, 2013 at Adams Heritage Healthcare Facility in Monroeville.
She is survived by one son-in-law, Tony Sheneman of Florida; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 at St. Paulâ€™s Lutheran Church in Bremen at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Bremen Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Paulâ€™s Lutheran Church.
The Mishler Funeral Home in Bremen is assisting the family with arrangements.
