CGA lacrosse players singled out for multitude of postseason honors

CULVER — Several Culver Girls Academy lacrosse team members were honored when the Indiana High School Women’s Lacrosse Association handed out its awards following the state championship game, won by CGA, on June 1.
Recognized as Academic All-Americans were Morgan Osborn, Clair Fay and Rory Byrne. To be named an Academic All-American, a player must maintain a 3.6 grade point average or higher, have played two years of varsity lacrosse, and be an active community service volunteer.
Recognized as US Lacrosse All-Americans representing Indiana were Olivia Rabbitt and Annie Morsches.

•Mary Elizabeth Balboa, 31 of Plymouth was arrested by Plymouth Police at 11:50 p.m. on June 6 for theft.
•Larry Lee Arroyo, 28 of Plymouth was arrested by Plymouth Police at 11:50 p.m. on June 6 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or more.
•Russell Dale Hendricks, 39 of Bremen was arrested by Plymouth Police at 1 a.m. on June 7 for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
•William Nichols III, 26, of South Bend was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 3:23 a.m. on June 7 for driving while suspended.

Triton earns 2nd ever state berth

WINONA LAKE — However low Triton goes, Warsaw always seems to be a stroke better.
Less than a week after the Trojans suffered a disappointing 314-315 championship defeat at the hands of the host Tigers at the Warsaw Sectional, Triton came up a stroke short of a regional championship at Stonehenge.

Plymouth’s Mercer, Bales teaming up as All-Star Series kicks off tonight

GREENFIELD — Plymouth basketball standout Mack Mercer and his coach have been doing a little carpooling lately.
Mercer was selected in April as one of the six core players on the IndyStar.com’s Junior All-Star team, when PHS head coach Ryan Bales was also selected as one of just three coaches to the team, and the two have been enjoying the off-the-court time they’ve been spending together lately.

Red Cross confirms closing of Garro Street house

PLYMOUTH — While the question of where the Marshall County chapter of the Red Cross will go, there is no debate that the chapter house on Garro Street will be closed.

Friday of last week, American Red Cross Chairman of the Marshall County Chapter, Carol Arnett, received a call from Indianapolis. Susan Norman, Outreach and Resiliency Director for the Red Cross, informed Arnett the Plymouth chapter house would be shut down and vacated by June 21 giving her less than 30days to find a new home for the Marshall County Chapter.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn (Peter) Luther of LaPorte; two sons, James Foster of Mansfield, Ohio and Thomas (Carolyn) Foster of Walkerton; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one brother, John Bellinger of Florida.

•Bryton Leroy Kepler, 18 of Bourbon was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 3:20 p.m. on June 5 for a probation violation.
•Jordan Ryan Shepard, 20 of Plymouth was arrested by Plymouth Police at 10:25 p.m. on June 5 for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage.
•Aaron Matthew Hancock, 37 of Warsaw was arrested by Plymouth Police at 11:30 p.m. on June 5 for intimidation threatening another person, disorderly conduct, public intoxication.

VFW receives liquor license renewal, with restriction

MARSHALL COUNTY - Efforts by the BREMEN VFW means business as usual for the club.

At May’s meeting of the Marshall County Alcoholic Beverage Commission the VFW liquor license was up for renewal. In the process of that renewal the club itself brought up a violation from Feb. 25 that the Board was not aware of and asked the steps that needed to be taken to bring the business into compliance.
