Plymouth defeats Panthers
Plymouth’s boys tennis team bounced back in Northern Lakes Conference play with a 4-1 win on the road at NorthWood Tuesday.
John Hunter beat Mitchell Keiser 6-4, 6-1 at 1 singles, John Gerard defeated Luke Stump 6-0, 6-3 at 2 singles, and Nate Knapp put away Ryan Menzie 6-4, 6-2 at 3 singles as the Pilgrims swept singles play.

PLYMOUTH — Ruth L. Beals, 92, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth Campus.
Ruth was born in Bourbon on Jan. 28, 1921, to Galeman and Myrtle (Kitch) Dexter. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1939.
On Feb. 12, 1939, Ruth Lucille married Robert Newton Beals in Plymouth. He preceded her in death July 30, 1974.

SOUTH BEND — Ruby Opal Letcher, 90, of South Bend passed away at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at Signature Health Care, South Bend. She was born Sept. 19, 1922 in Delphi to the late Henry and Lucinda (Purviance) Barr. On June 23, 1944 she married John F. Kinney who preceded her in death in 1947. On Feb. 14, 1950 in South Bend she married Joseph Letcher who preceded in death in 1984.

•William Oliver Norris III, 33 of Plymouth was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 8:50 p.m. on Sept. 6 for driving while suspended.
•Brian Joseph Vollmer, 49 of Rochester was arrested by Plymouth Police at 9:05 p.m. on Sept. 6 for false informing, public intoxication.
•Jovan Cady, 20 of Chicago, IL was arrested by Marshall County Sheriff's Department at 10:05 p.m. on Sept. 6 for possession of marijuana, illegal possession of an alcoholic beverage.
•Eric Dean Goodrich, 37 of Plymouth was arrested by Plymouth Police at 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 7 for domestic battery.

BREMEN — Alice M. Platz, 90, residing in Bremen, passed away at 4 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013 at the Bremen Health Care Center. Alice was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Bremen to the late Willard and Mabel (Smeltzer) Sauer. She has been a lifelong area resident. Four sisters and two brothers preceded Alice in death; Velma Merrill, Lois Miller, Carolyn Sanders, Mary Gearhart, Floyd Sauer and Vernon Sauer.

Girls soccer
Lady Lions dominate home invitational
Bremen’s girls soccer team went 16-0 in two games to win its home invitational at Jane’s Park Saturday.
Katelyn Aguayo earned a hat trick with three goals as the Lady Lions beat Washington Township 7-0, and she registered an old school hat trick with three straight scores in a 9-0 win over Trinity.
Jasmine Schafer scored three goals over the two games, while Claire Schmidt tallied two straight in the win over Trinity.
Regan Murphy made seven saves in goal in the two shutouts as Bremen outshot its opponents by a combined 51-9 margin.

PLYMOUTH — Larry Dale Clevenger, 62, died in the arms of his wife at 4:10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013 in their home in Inwood. He died after several years of battling lung disease.
“THE Man of Inwood,” as he was lovingly known by family, friends and neighbors, was born Dec. 27, 1950 in Rochester to Harold Dean Clevenger and Elnita Ruth (McClain) Hart of Argos. In 1963, the family moved to Inwood where he had lived for 50 years. He met Linda Kay Alwine when they were pre-teens and he immediately knew he would marry her some day.
