Trojans, Lady Lions lead area team finishes at New Prairie CC Invitational

NEW CARLISLE — Brooke Bahr’s second-place finish in the girls Class A race helped Bremen to a spot on the awards stand at Saturday’s New Prairie cross country invitational.
The Lions scored 183 points and finished fourth in the small school division, just behind West Central. There were 36 teams in girls Class A.
New Prairie’s invitational is one of the largest high school cross country meets in Indiana. Over 100 high schools participated.

PLYMOUTH — Media Klingerman, 76, of Plymouth, passed away after a lengthy illness at 4:52 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born on May 11, 1937 in Decoy, Ky., she was the daughter of Buck and Ellen (Shepherd) Stacy. She attended Berea College in Kentucky.
In Las Vegas, Media married Chester Earl “Skip” Klingerman in May of 1984.

CGA wins LaPorte Sectional; Glenn takes 3rd

LaPORTE — Culver Girls Academy made the most of its new sectional realignment on Friday.
The Lady Eagles carded a 349 at Beechwood in their first year after transferring out of the Warsaw tourney to the LaPorte Sectional, beating out the field by a convincing 43 strokes to end a 14-year sectional championship drought.
LaPorte shot 392 for runner-up honors in the team standings, while John Glenn earned its second straight team regional berth just a stroke back, and Knox finished sixth with a 475 score.

Rockies football game will be played at Memorial tonight

ELKHART — The Plymouth football game vs Elkhart Memorial at 7:30 tonight will take place at Memorial, the PHS Athletic Department reported Friday.
The Northern Lakes Conference football game between the Rockies and the Chargers was originally moved back a day after a transformer at Elkhart Memorial was struck by lightning, leaving the school’s outdoor sports facilities without lights.
As of press deadline Friday morning, school officials were still uncertain as to whether tonight’s rescheduled game was to be played at Charger Field or at Elkhart Central’s Rice Field.

She is survived by a daughter, Robbie Ringer of Culver; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at Odom Funeral Home, Culver. Service is at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Odom Funeral Home. Burial will be at Culver Masonic Cemetery, Culver.

PHS football game postponed to Saturday

ELKHART — Due to a blown transformer at Charger Field, tonight’s Plymouth football game at Elkhart Memorial has been postponed until Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The transformer in question was struck by lightning, cutting power to all of Memorial’s outdoor events, and parts to repair the transformer were unavailable until noon today, said school officials. If the transformer can’t be repaired today, then tomorrow night’s contest will be held at Rice Field at Elkhart Central at 7:30 p.m.
