BREMEN — Justin P. Feathers, 29, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family at 5 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2013.
Justin Patrick Feathers was born in South Bend on Aug. 18, 1983 to Gregory P. Feathers and Lori M. DeBuano. He graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 2001. Justin attended Wyoming Tech in Laramie, Wyo.
While living in Wyoming, he did auto body work and was a welder by trade.

Late rally not enough for Pilgrims

PLYMOUTH — Another grey spring day in Indiana led to another grey spring game of baseball, with Elkhart Memorial taking a Northern Lakes Conference-opening night win over Plymouth at Bill Nixon Field by a 6-3 final.
The Chargers had their way for much of the day behind the right arm of Scottie Clark, who went five for Memorial surrendering just two hits and no runs.

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth entered Monday’s Northern Lakes Conference opener hoping to parlay its first win of the season over the weekend into some early momentum. Instead it was the Chargers who jumped off to a fast start.

Falcons hold off Lions in Northern State opener at Bremen

BREMEN — On a night when the rain, wind and cold affected the game from the start, John Glenn’s bats came out on fire. After a middle inning rally by the Lions, Falcons reliever Michael Holderread shut the door in the fifth, and Glenn handed host Bremen a 14-6 Northern State Conference loss Monday.
Trailing 7-2 after a big six-inning first by Glenn, the Lions cut into the deficit with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth as Tyler Coffel and Jacob Bennitt both drew walks followed by a long triple from Dillon Mullen, who scored on a wild pitch to bring the score to 7-5.

Softball
Jennings Ks 13 in shutout of Knox
Mallorie Jennings fanned 13 in a complete-game shutout to lift the Triton softball team to an 11-0 Northern State Conference-opening win at Knox Monday.
Jennings gave up just two hits over seven shutout innings.
Meanwhile, the Trojans easily handled Knox’s pitching as six hitters combined for 12 hits, 10 RBIs and eight runs scored.
The offense exploded for the Trojans in the sixth as they scored six runs.
Halie Zimmerman racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Trojans. She doubled in the second inning and singled in the sixth inning.

LOGANSPORT — David Lee Parker, 68, of Logansport, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, surrounded by his family, at 1:55 a.m. in his residence.
Born April 16, 1944 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late George and Katherine Funk Parker. On July 29, 1968 in Lafayette, David married Stella Meria Martin who survives.
David retired in 1985 as a psychiatric aid for the Logansport State Hospital.

PLYMOUTH — Anita S. Breeding, 63, Plymouth, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at 1:18 p.m., at her home, hand in hand with her two daughters.
Anita was born Feb. 25, 1950, in Plymouth, to Guy Jr. and Marjorie (Yockey) Breeding. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School, in the class of 1968.
She lived and worked, in the area her entire life.

LAKEVILLE — Ruby J. Smith, 72, of Lakeville, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Friday, April 12 at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Ruby was born July 5, 1940 in Winamac to the late George L. and Garnet L. (Enyeart) Beauchamp. She resided in the Michiana area her lifetime.
On Oct. 13, 1956 in Knox, as Ruby J. Beauchamp, she married Leonard Irvin Smith, who preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1990.
