St. Joseph County â€“ Around 6:15 p.m. this evening the Indiana State Police and rescue personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on SR 331 south of Wyatt in southern St. Joseph County.
Police and first responders arrived on scene to find a semi-tractor trailer had collided head-on with a tree. Purportedly the driver of the semi, Andrew Ginther, 30, Bremen was south bound on SR 331 when, for reasons unknown, he drove his truck off the west side of the road into a tree. Ginther died at the scene.
â€¢Chad Michael Isom, 35 of Plymouth was arrested by Indiana State Police at 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 14 for possession of chemical reagents for methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana.
â€¢Shannon Renee Dixon, 24 of Argos was arrested by Indiana State Police at 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 14 for possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
â€¢Mark Edward Matyas, 33 of South Bend was arrested by Plymouth Police at 4:05 p.m. on Oct. 14 for theft, false informing.
PLYMOUTH - Federal regulations have created a new policy for Marshall County.
An ordinance enacted by the Marshall County Council and Marshall County Commissioners has finalized a new policy regarding grants. The goal is better tracking of all grant dollars that come into the county.
PLYMOUTH - While the jail population continues to grow law enforcement agencies and the Marshall County Council continue to deal with the price tag.
Warned several months ago by Marshall County Superior Court I Judge Robert Bowen that increased cases meant increased need for public defenders, the Council got the bill for that need on Monday. Bowen told the Council during budget hearings in August that he would be seeking around $37,000 extra in his 2014 budget and that he would likely need additional money to cover the cost for this year.
Plymouthâ€™s Cesar Aguilar scored four goals and assisted on another goal as the Rockies beat Wawasee and NorthWood to advance to the Warsaw Sectional championship game last week.
LaVille senior captain Nina Zeiger scored a pair of goals as LaVille valiantly battled back from a 3-0 deficit in an eventual loss to Argos at the Dragonsâ€™ home sectional Saturday.
ARGOS â€” The Argos Lady Dragons struck early and often on their way to their third sectional championship in a row, this time over the LaVille Lady Lancers with a final score of 5-3 Saturday.Â
WARSAW â€” Plymouth and Warsaw may share a conference affiliation, but the defending state runner-up Tigers appeared to be in a league all their own in Saturdayâ€™s Warsaw Sectional championship game with the Rockies.
Tito Cuellar finished with a Texas hat trick of four goals â€” including two within the gameâ€™s first 11 and a half minutes â€” to power the home team, and Plymouth suffered a 7-0 shutout at the hands of the Tigers, who solidified their sixth straight sectional title with Saturdayâ€™s win.
Binkley and Dragons down Lions at Culver championship
Damon Binkley scored a pair of goals to help the Argos boys soccer team rally past Bremen to earn its third straight sectional championship Saturday at Culver Community, 4-2.
Max Bailey scored in the 35th minute to give the Dragons a tenuous 1-0 halftime edge, but Danny Reynoso and Sam Lacher scored in the 49th and 62nd minutes to give the Lions the advantage, 3-1.
Raymond P. Van Blaricom

PLYMOUTH â€” Raymond P. Van Blaricom, 76, of Plymouth, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013.
The son of Ted and Esther (Sutherland) Van Blaricom, Raymond was born Sept. 28, 1937 in Plymouth. He attended Tyner High School.
On Nov. 24, 1955, Raymond married Dora A. Van Blaricom in Plymouth.
Ray worked for Bomarko for five years and then for United Technology for nine years, retiring in 1991.
