ARGOS — Rosemary “Rosie” Faye Ault, 56, of Argos died Oct. 14, 2013 at 5:18 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
She is survived by children, Tonya Ault of Portland, Ore., Troy Davis of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Travis Davis of Westfield, Tyler Ault of Florida, Crystal Lauderback of North Liberty; sisters, Alice Gaudreau of South Bend, Barbara Lauderback of North Liberty, Mary Nichols of North Liberty, Roberta Ault of Bourbon; and brother, Fred (Debbie) Ault of Plymouth.

Area teams advance at CMA Sectionals

CULVER — With the approach of the postseason at the flat, fast Culver Academies course approaching, Plymouth cross country coach Jami Holm switched up her team’s training regimen last week.
Holm changed the Pilgrims’ workouts from longer distances to shorter, speed-building runs. That added speed paid dividends at Tuesday’s sectional as Plymouth’s boys team edged out Tippecanoe Valley for the last ticket out to regionals this weekend.

PLYMOUTH — Former Plymouth City Councilman, Charles E. “Chuck” Ripley, 81, passed away suddenly Monday morning in his home of natural causes.
Chuck was a native of Adams County and was born at home in Blue Creek Township near Decatur on April 12, 1932, the son of Leland A. and Midge C. (Davis) Ripley. He was one of nine children in the Ripley household and graduated from Pleasant Mills High School in the class of 1950. He was active in the basketball and 4-H Programs as well as helping on the farm day to day.

PLYMOUTH — Hannah (Khana) Buckingham, 81, passed away at 2:05 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 in Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver.
Born in Baghdad, Iraq on Jan. 6, 1932, Hannah was the daughter of Odeisho Esho and Zarday Bachas.
She worked for Ferro for 14 years before her retirement in 1994. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church.
Hannah loved gardening and cooking. She loved to feed everyone she met and she never met a stranger. She loved spending time with her family. Hannah also found enjoyment volunteering at the Neighborhood Center.

PLYMOUTH — Ellis Devon Stiles, 74, passed away the evening of Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Hospice House of Elkhart.
Ellis is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of Plymouth, and their three sons: Kenneth (JoAnn) Stiles of Culver, David (Brenda) Stiles of Plymouth, and Michael (Patty) Stiles of Culver. He has six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His surviving brothers are Vernon (Phyllis) Stiles of Plymouth and Larry (Jane) Stiles of Tennessee.

ROCHESTER — Donald M. Bowen, 67, Culver, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.
He was born May 10, 1946 in Gary, the son of Richard and Alyette (DuMarche’) Bowen. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving during the Vietnam Era. On April 30, 1972 in Rockaway, N.J., he married JoAnn DiGiorgio and she survives.
Mr. Bowen had been an inspector for natural gas utilities and worked as a United States Postal Carrier for the Kewanna Post Office.

LIBERTY, Ky. — Ida Lou Scher, 88, passed away in her home at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Liberty, Ky.
The daughter of John and Opal Smith Miller, she was born in Bourbon on Feb. 2, 1925. She graduated from Plymouth High School. She joined the Women’s Army Corps in 1945 and worked as a clerk during WWII.

ROCHESTER — Jimmie  Ruth Malott, 73, of Rochester died Oct. 14 at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Boys cross country
Glenn takes 3rd at Riley Sectional
John Glenn placed two runners in the top 10, and the Falcons finished third at the Riley Sectional at Erskine Park Tuesday to earn a berth out to Saturday’s Elkhart Central Regional.
Host Riley won the meet with a score of 45 followed by Penn’s 57 and Glenn’s 105. Bremen closed out its team season in seventh with a 179 score, while LaVille placed 11th with a 319 score.
Glenn was paced by Luke Runyan’s 17:00.04 for fourth place overall, while Joe Mahank finished eighth in 17:20.

3rd time’s the charm for Argos

ARGOS — Three, oh three. It’s a magic number.
Few things are more venerated in the world of sport than the three-peat — the hat trick, the three-time champion. Argos’ boys soccer team managed just such a feat when it rattled off its third consecutive sectional title against Bremen Saturday with a 4-2 victory over the Lions that was closer than the final score appeared.
The sectional three-peat is the mark of program dominance, but lest you start thinking it’s been an easy ride, think again.
