Property owner is underwater

BMARSHALL COUNTY - A local resident is under water on taxes - literally.

Jean Klinedinst - a resident of Kreighbaum Lake is hoping to get some relief on her property taxes from Marshall County. Klinedinst bought property on the lake three years ago and exploring the high rate of taxes discovered an interesting fact - the four parcels of land she owns also include the surrounding lake bed.

She and her husband own 23 acres of land on the lake and 18 acres of that is actually in the lake.

County, Plymouth, Bourbon partnering for second try at grant

October 24, 2013

PLYMOUTH - Marshall County will enter into the federal grant waters for a second time this year.

Last year the county along with the city of Plymouth and town of Bourbon sought a federal “Brownfields Grant” through the Environmental Protection Agency. A brownfield site - or simply a brownfield - is land previously used for industrial purposes or some commercial uses. The land may be contaminated by low concentrations of hazardous waste or pollution, and has the potential to be reused once it is cleaned up.

The city of Plymouth will act as the lead in the grant application process.

County requires permit for demolition

October 24, 2013

MARSHALL COUNTY- Along with building, now tearing down will require a permit in Marshall County.
Unincorporated areas of Marshall County will join several towns in requiring a demolition permit to tear down structures after the Marshall County Commissioners approved an ordinance creating the new permit. There is no charge for the permit.

Currently structures in the county can be demolished with no restriction on who performs the work or really how it is done. There are several public health and safety reasons that some county officials are behind the idea.

Rockies get ready for sectional match-up with Riley

October 24, 2013

PLYMOUTH — A season-ending win at NorthWood is a good start headed to the playoffs for Plymouth’s Rockies.
“It’s a great win for us, we really haven’t done that very often,” said Plymouth’s head football coach John Barron. “There haven’t been a lot of teams in the history of the school to go over there and win. Especially the way we did it.”
Down 14 points, the Rockies had the game’s last three scores to take the win in the final minutes.
“This team has a lot of toughness — a lot of mental toughness,” said Barron. “We didn’t panic, we didn’t flinch.”

It was the fourth time the two teams have gone head to head this season, and all have borne similar results.
