Wilma Wagoner-Renforth

PLYMOUTH — Wilma Faye Wagoner-Renforth, 88, of Plymouth went into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, at 3 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2013, at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Plymouth.
Wilma was born Nov. 5, 1924, in the La Paz area, to Sherman Sr. and Thelma Wright Emmons. She grew up with eight brothers and one sister. Wilma graduated from La Paz High School in the class of 1942. On Nov. 5, 1944, she married Paul F. Wagoner Jr., of Plymouth, who preceded her in death, June 1, 1992.

PLYMOUTH — Mary Lou Thompson, 89, and a resident of Marshall County since 1967, passed away in her home at 5:10 p.m. May 6, 2013.
Mary Louise was born in Pekin to John J. and Mattie F. (Davis) Tash. Mary Lou graduated from Hanover College in 1947 and completed her graduate work at Indiana University. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority.
On June 3, 1950 Mary Lou married Richard L. Thompson in South Bend. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1975.
PLYMOUTH - Now in it’s 9th year of operation, the Plymouth Farmers’
Market (PFM) opens this Saturday.
Traditionally the Market opens the day before Mother’s Day continues operation through October 10. Shoppers can bring their shopping bags and reconnect with old friends under the magnolia tree.
MARSHALL CO. — Tuesday afternoon, Indiana Governor Mike Pence signed a bill to help fund school resource officers for school districts throughout the state. Locally, reaction is mixed among several district superintendents.
Donna Burroughs, Triton School District: “It is my understanding that the grants will require matching funds. Because of this we would not be making a request for any of this funding.
PLYMOUTH - With flood plain issues nearly out of the way the proposed "shell" building on Plymouth's northwest side continues to leap hurdles.
The Plymouth Plan Commission voted to allow certain plat changes on the land proposed for the structure at the corner of Pioneer and Commerce just north of U.S. 30 and near 7B Road. The land is owned by the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO).
WALKERTON — Bremen’s boys track and field team had already beaten both Jimtown and New Prairie in dual meets earlier this season, but the Lions knew it would likely be a different story at Wednesday’s Northern State Conference championships. With start sprinter Sam Lacher sidelined with a hamstring injury and a total of eight teams in the field vying for the top spots in each event, Bremen fell short of both.
PLYMOUTH — Make it two in a row for Plymouth’s Pilgrims as they picked up a home Northern Lakes Conference win over Goshen by a 9-3 final Wednesday.
Plymouth starter Jacob Frantz was masterful in a seven inning five-hitter where he surrendered three runs, all in the first inning of the game. Frantz recovered admirably and allowed just two other base runners in the game, one erased in a seventh inning double play.

Lady Pilgrims open NLC at 3-2
Plymouth's girls tennis team opened the Northern Lakes Conference Tournament at home with a 3-2 start in the opening round in Centennial Park Wednesday.
Allie Berger beat Wawasee's Esther Hermann 6-3, 6-0 to advance to play Goshen's Miranda Kay — who beat Elkhart Memorial's Bailey Denton 6-1, 6-4 Wednesday — in the semifinals today.

PLYMOUTH — Michael (Mike) Glenn Rhodes, 66, of Plymouth died at 11:18 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013, at his home.Â
He is survived by his mother, Mae Rhodes of Plymouth; his son, Bryan (Lisa) Rhodes of Avilla; one grandchild; his sisters, Nancy Lewallen of North Carolina and Sandra Michael of Plymouth; and his brother, David Rhodes of Florida.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home, 300 W. Madison St., Plymouth has been entrusted with the arrangements. There will be no services held. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date.
PLYMOUTH — A focus on fitness with a little fun thrown in for good measure is the theme of the Second Friday Chamber of Commerce event this week.
According to Plymouth Chamber director Betty Glaub-Gibbs, For May's event, the theme was already in the plans. “I said it has to be fun,” she explained.
“We want people to realize fitness can be fun.”
To realize that goal, a number of local businesses have signed up to take part.
Included at the Second Friday event, which is 5 - 8 p.m. in downtown Plymouth are:
• Fitness Forum doing “boot camp” demonstrations and teaching Zumba;
