BREMEN â€”Â Lou Ella Gordon, 84, of Bremen passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Plymouth. She was born July 31, 1929 in Plymouth to Charles and Hester (Gross) Youngman. Lou Ella graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1947 and on June 4, 1948, she married Gerald Gordon. She was a member of the Love Circle Womenâ€™s Group at the Inwood Church.

ARGOS â€” Ruby Edith Smith, 101, of Plymouth and formerly of Argos, died Dec. 26, 2013 at 2:25 a.m. at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor â€“ Plymouth. She had been in declining health for several months.
She was born Sept. 29, 1912 at her familyâ€™s farm near Argos to Victor and Mae (Dunlap) Railsback. She has lived in the Argos community all of her life and had lived in town since 1943.
She married George W. Smith of Mentone in 1931. They later divorced.

DONALDSON â€” Sr. Mary Philomene Pawlik, PHJC, 90, died at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2013 at the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson. She was born Philomene Pawlik in Knox on July 6, 1923 to Hugo and Filomena (Romanovsky) Pawlik.
On June 6, 1942 she entered The Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ congregation in Donaldson and professed first vows on June 25, 1944.
Sister Philomene had a Masterâ€™s in Registered Nursing and Pastoral Care and also was a Pastoral Associate.

Grovertown â€” The Starke County Sheriff's Department has confirmed to the Pilot News Group that a shooting that occurred in the Grovertown area Monday was a suicide. A number of rumors have been circulating in the community because of the incident, which, according to law enforcement authorities have no validity.

NAPPANEE â€” Eugene E.C. Sneed, age 42, of Nappanee , died unexpectedly, Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013 at Meadows in Nappanee. He was born Sept. 12, 1971 in Hammond to Robert and Cindy (Baltes) Sneed Sr.
Mr. Sneed moved to Nappanee 4 years ago from Portage. He had worked at B-Way Corp. in Valparaiso.
He was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Eugene enjoyed computers, electronics, and gadgets.

CLARKSVILLE â€” Bryan Richard Hatfield, 35 of Clarksville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Scott Memorial Hospital.
Bryan was born on Sept. 20, 1978 to Richard Hatfield and Rebecca Oâ€™Hara. Bryan was employed at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center as a corrections officer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rebecca Oâ€™Hara.
