BREMEN â Thirteen proved to be Tritonâs unlucky number Friday.
As in, the Lady Trojans ran into a buzz saw opposite 13-time sectional champion Plymouth.
PLYMOUTH â As usual it was a playoff atmosphere at Bill Nixon Field for a match-up between Plymouth and John Glenn Friday.
The Pilgrims hope that it wasnât a preview of next weekâs sectional opener as they fell to the rival Falcons, 9-2.
The Pilgrims kept pace answering a pair of unearned third inning Glenn runs with a sac fly from George Stults and an RBI single from Elijah Nixon in the fourth. The floodgates came open in the Glenn fifth with a two-run double from Justin Giorlowski and a mammoth two-run homer from David Jawerski, and that would be enough for the Falcons.
CULVER â The Culver Military Eagles scored nine runs in the second inning to put themselves ahead by seven and never looked back Friday, winning 13-3 in five innings at Wilkins Field over the North Judson Bluejays.
The Bluejays got off to a good start, scoring the first two runs of the game on a couple of errors by CMA in the top of the first. They also held the Eagles scoreless in the inning and took a 2-0 lead into the second. Judsonâs Michael Berby got on base with a hit to lead off the second but was promptly picked off at first by CMA pitcher Colin Raver.
ARGOS â Argos striker Jami Patterson will play for an Indiana Soccer Hall of Famer at Trine University next year.
Patterson, a four-year standout with the Lady Dragons, has committed to play for the NCAA Division III Thunder under head coach Terry Stefankiewicz, a 2004 Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame inductee who coached previously at St. Francis and IPFW. He played at Indiana University for coach Jerry Yeagley.
PLYMOUTH â Winning four races at any track meet is pretty special, let alone four sectional races. Michael Hartman won six Thursday.
BREMEN â A loss isnât necessarily always a bad thing. Take Marissa Rossâ and Holly Stogsdillâs loss to Glennâs Kyler Columbia and Allison Pudlo at last Saturdayâs Northern State Conference meet.
The Triton duo seemed to have learned a few lessons in that defeat to their Glenn 1 doubles counterparts, and on Thursday they found the opportunity to apply them.
