Yeo tabbed for 2nd Player of the Week honor

BOURBON — After helping put the Trojans back on top at the Class A Regional 13 over the weekend, Triton senior Clay Yeo was honored with his second Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/ Subway Player of the Week honor this season Monday.
Yeo was named the District 1 Player of the Week after averaging 26 points and seven rebounds in a pair of wins over Fort Wayne Canterbury and Pioneer at home at the Trojan Trench.

Bremen grad Neeley coaches Warren Wilson to 1st national title

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A Bremen grad and former Ancilla basketball coach has guided Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina to its first-ever postseason championship.

Lincoln seventh rallies past Urey
Lincoln’s seventh grade girls basketball team battled back from a halftime deficit to hand Urey a 32-25 defeat.
Leading scorers for Lincoln were Alli Andrews with 11 points and Kenzie Quissell with seven.
The Red Storm end their season Wednesday at home against Knox.
The Lincoln seventh grade girls B team also beat Urey by a comfortable 29-11 margin. Leading Lincoln in that contest were Kirsten Brown with eight points and Shayla Noble with seven.

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — Marjorie Joan (Chappell) Cummins passed away March 6, 2013, in Hope Hospice, Bonita Springs, Fla., after battling multiple myeloma cancer since January 2007.
Born in Indianapolis, (Marion Co) on Dec. 13, 1938, Marjorie was the daughter of William Kenneth and Launa May (Records) Chappell.
She married Allen H. Cummins on June 21, 1959, at the St. John Evangelical and Reformed Church, Indianapolis, who survives.

BREMEN — Joyce Main, 88, of Bremen, passed away Friday, March 8, 2013, in her residence.
Joyce was born Jan. 2, 1925, in Leesburg, to Ralph and Goldie (Rousey) Sanderson. She was a graduate of Leesburg High School.
Joyce married Harold “Hug” Main on July 7, 1951, and resided in Bremen for 60 years.

PLYMOUTH — Mary Ruth Girten, 94, died at her home at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013.
She is survived by sons, Larry (Amme) Girten, Bill (Donna) Girten, Bob Girten all of Plymouth; daughters, Dee (Jim) Brown, Plymouth, Lynn (Steve) Jacox, Michigan City, Anne Gantz, Plymouth, and Patti Girten, Plymouth; two brothers, Wendell Nelson and Gordon Nelson; three sisters, Joan (Fred) Wolff, Rosemarie Campbell and Helen “Mick” Nelson, all of Plymouth; 14 grandchildren; and several stepgrand and great-grandchildren.

OD Schools placed on lockdown

HAMLET - Oregon-Davis Community School Corporation (OD) went on lockdown this morning after threatening graffiti was found on the boy's bathroom wall at the high school.
The graffiti is believed to have been left during a basketball tournament that took place at the high school on Saturday.
"When the graffiti was discovered, we immediately contacted Sheriff Oscar Cowen at the Starke County Sheriff's Department. They sent over a detective to take some photos. We also contacted our Student Resource Officer Freddy Baker,"OD School's Superintendent Dr. Steve Disney said.

TCU Athlete of the Week Clay Yeo

Triton senior Clay Yeo put up a combined 52 points in two regional games, including 35 as the No. 10 Trojans claimed the Class A Regional 13 championship victory over No. 4 Pioneer at the Trojan Trench Saturday night.

BOURBON — At some point during Clay Yeo’s otherworldly third quarter, the Triton student section started chanting, “You can’t stop him.”
True? Sure. A gross oversimplification of said truth? Absolutely. Then again, “You’re entirely helpless to in any way moderate the influence of this man among boys upon this regional championship game,” while more specific, lacks the snappy cadence of, “You can’t stop him.”
