FORT WAYNE — Gertrude Maude Elliott, 83, of Fort Wayne, formerly of South Bend and Tippecanoe, died March 25, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Woodview Health Care, Fort Wayne following a lengthy illness.
She was born July 7, 1929 in Plymouth to Ezra and Cora (Ransbottom) Feece.
She lived in Fort Wayne the last four years coming from South Bend where she and husband, Robert had lived since 1966. Prior to that they lived in Tippecanoe.
On Aug. 20, 1950 in Plymouth, she married Robert Gene Elliott who preceded her Dec. 28, 2007.

BREMEN — Michael Lee Sahlhoff, 55, of Bremen, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at home. He was born Nov. 15, 1957 to Frank and Betty Sahlhoff in Frankfurt, Germany. On May 12, 1984 he married Debi Swartzlander in Nappanee.

SYRACUSE — James E. “Jim” Hershberger, 96, of Syracuse died at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at his Dewart Lake Home.
He is survived by two daughters, Lois Lindenfeld of Raleigh, N.C. and Sherry (Bill) Newcum of Syracuse; son, Phil (Gwen) Hershberger of Bremen; stepdaughter, Donna (Steve) Wagner of Elkhart; stepson, Keith (Janice) Huff of Marion; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Culver’s Shaffer invited to Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Challenge

CULVER — Culver Community junior Kayla Shaffer has been invited to play in the Indiana Elite North vs. South All-Star Girls Basketball Challenge.
Shaffer, a 5’10” swing player with the Lady Cavaliers capable of scoring both inside and out, led her team with 16.1 points per game this season. She also averaged 5.3 rebounds while recording 62 steals, 35 assists and 11 blocks in 22 games played, helping power Culver to a 12-10 overall finish and a 5-2 Northern State Conference mark.

Ancilla’s Himes, Richardson receive postseason honors

DONALDSON — Two members of this year’s Ancilla women’s basketball team have received All-Michigan Community College Athletic Association honors.
Plymouth alum Brittany Himes was named All-MCCAA Honorable Mention while teammate Kaylia Richardson received numerous awards this postseason.
Himes led the team in 3-pointers made this season and averaged 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
