PLYMOUTH — It was a game that fit the timeless nature of the rivalry of Plymouth and Warsaw and added it’s own question to the legacy: “Was it a blocked shot or was it goaltending?”
History will record the argument; the decision by the officials on this particular night was “blocked shot,” and the result was a Plymouth win, 57-56.
BOURBON — The Triton Trojans outrebounded the Bremen Lions 34-19 in a dominating win at the Trojan Trench Thursday night. With 15 of those rebounds coming on the offensive end, the Trojans converted those into 16 second-chance points and won 54-37.
Bremen coach Ryan Eakins talked about the difference in the game.
CULVER — The annual Bell Game between Culver and Argos brought out a crowd, and the Dragons looked up for the rivalry game early.
But while their intensity seemed to flag after the first quarter, the Cavaliers kept pouring it on, ultimately doubling up the visitors in a 46-23 win at home at John R. Nelson Gymnasium Thursday.
CULVER — After the Lady Eagles sent two of three relays to the state meet last year, Culver Girls Academy head coach Cali Girard did a little tweaking with her lineups heading into last weekend’s Warsaw Sectional finals.

Editor’s note: This is a first-person account by 2012 Argos graduate Ally Rospopo. Rospopo’s senior project while at Argos was to work with Mileigh a puppy raiser before the dog complete leader dog training. Rospopo’s senior project was previously featured in the Pilot News.
When an Argos senior graduates, this is usually the completion of his or her senior project, but for me the journey continued.
The Culver park board's vote as to whether to allow a beer tasting event in the town park came down to an even 50-50 split, but the lack of a majority of favorable votes equaled a "no."
The decision came after lengthy -- and sometimes heated -- discussion between representatives of the proposed event, Evil Czech Brewery owner George Pesek and brewery manager Shawn Erikson, and the park board and audience.
NEW CARLISLE — Wednesday night’s Class 3A New Prairie Sectional quarterfinals were decided in just two periods.
The opener went down to the wire, but the nightcap was decided at the outset as South Bend St. Joseph’s used a strong effort from sophomore Madeline Raster to hand John Glenn a 45-41 overtime defeat, and Plymouth rode a 14-1 first quarter to an eventual 57-20 rout of Jimtown to set up a semifinal match-up between the traditional rivals Friday night in New Carlisle.
HAMLET — Two games, two big blowouts at the Class A Girls Basketball Sectional 51 Wednesday at The Den.
In the opener, host Oregon-Davis ran off 27 unanswered points to open the game and limited Westville to four points through three quarters en route to an 83-18 victory.
Meanwhile, Argos rattled off 22 consecutive points over a nine-minute span in the first half and settled for a mere 30-point margin in a 52-22 rout of Michigan City Marquette in the nightcap.
PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Rockies offensive lineman Dan Samuelson made it official Wednesday morning — next year he will be a Michigan Wolverine.
After a long-involved recruitment period, Samuelson arrived at his decision for a simple reason.
“Coach Hoke and academics,” said Samuelson of his decision of U of M. “I want to study Special Education.”
That decision — along with many others for the Samuelsons — is family-related.
