WALKERTON â Charles âCorkyâ Ray Lingle, age 77, of Walkerton, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at 1:35 a.m., at home with his loving family by his side.

MISHAWAKA â Gale A. Schaal, 88, passed away at 11 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 at the Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mishawaka. Mr. Schaal was born Dec. 9, 1924 in Plymouth to the late Ralph C. and Cora F. (Kanarr) Schaal. He has been a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 2, 1945 in Plymouth, he married Virginia M. Evans who preceded him in death Oct. 20, 2010. Two sisters, Phyllis Reaker and Linda Eby; and one brother, Ralph Schaal, also preceded their brother in death.

BREMEN â Michael David Weatherby, 44, died unexpectedly Sunday morning at Bremen Community Hospital.
He was born May 16, 1968 in Alma, Mich., to Roland Lewis and Dorothy Jean (French) Weatherby Jr.
He is survived by his parents; three daughters, Kendra Leann Fox, Big Rapids, Mich., Kylee Rachael Weatherby, Bremen, Cassie Weatherby, Alma, Mich.; a son, Kaylob M. Dowsett, Bremen; and a sister, Renee Frost, Goshen.
He had lived in Goshen and Boise, Idaho before settling in Bremen the last three years.

ROCHESTER â Nancy L. Heinzmann Van Lue, 66, of Rochester, passed away at 9:59 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at her residence.
She was born July 26, 1946 in Rochester, the daughter of James Wesley and Mary Ellen (Paxton) Lyons. On Aug. 30, 1964 in Rochester, she married Bondi Lynn Heinzmann. He preceded her in death March 25, 1985. She then married Robert Van Lue on Nov. 29, 1985 in Rochester. He preceded her in death April 6, 2010.

WARSAW â Harold Bellman, 88, of Warsaw, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at Kosciusko County Hospital.
He is survived by three sons, Richard (Sue) Bellman of Valparaiso, Kenneth (Carolyn) Bellman of Mishawaka, and Ronald (Karen) Bellman of Bourbon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Bellman of Nappanee; and a sister, Betty Reaker of Mishawaka.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Burial will follow at the Bremen Cemetery.
PLYMOUTH - The Chief Executive of the city of Plymouth gave his State of the City Address before the Plymouth Common Council on Monday.
Plymouth Mayor Mark Senter addressed the Common Council and those assembled with his review of the past year and preview of the coming one.
âFor the second state of the city in a row I start by talking about Operation Bright Spot,â said Senter.
CHICAGO â Plymouth product and Purdue University Calumet senior Alex Starr earned Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference all-conference honors for the second straight year as the league released its postseason awards Monday.
Starr averaged 16.5 points per game, while recently becoming the fifth player in program history to eclipse the 1,500-point mark. She has totaled 244 3-point field goals in her career and needs just three more treys to set the single-season mark.
PLYMOUTH â Winter sports season tallies for the Northern Lakes Conference All-Sports standings are in, and Plymouth is ranked fourth and fifth in the girls and boys standings, respectively.
