February 20, 2013

PLYMOUTH — When you think of a dangerous work environment, a hospital probably isn’t the first place that pops into your mind.
But the Indiana Department of Labor released statistics earlier this month that point to health care as having the second highest worker injury and illness rates in the state. The DOL launched a statewide safety program to reduce some of these issues February 5.

Plymouth seniors end regular season with win over Glenn, 64-35

February 20, 2013

PLYMOUTH — Plymouth’s Pilgrims once again proved that there is order in chaos as they ended their regular season with a 64-35 win over John Glenn at home Tuesday night.
Glenn played a masterful first half, responding cooly to Plymouth’s trademark pressure and forcing the Pilgrims to play a halfcourt game that is not their forte. There was no lack of Plymouth effort, but it was Glenn taking advantage of nearly every opportunity.

Jackson powers Knights past Bremen

February 20, 2013

BREMEN — Mishawaka Marian senior Demetrius Jackson’s jersey number seemed appropriate Tuesday.
If most good high school ballplayers can turn their games up to 10 in a close contest, his goes all the way up to 11.
With the Lions hanging around for three quarters, the Notre Dame signee and McDonald’s All American took it to another level in the final frame at Bremen, scoring 15 of his game-high 28 points during a 27-15 fourth quarter that put the home team away 81-61.

Dragons lose close one versus Squires

February 20, 2013

ARGOS — The Argos Dragons lost a close one to the Manchester Squires at Phil Weybright Gymnasium Tuesday, 58-56.
The Dragons started the game in a 6-0 hole, getting beat on some backdoor cuts, but managed to keep the game close in the first quarter, only trailing 14-11.
Manchester started the second quarter on a tear, going on an 11-3 run, taking away any sort of energy the Dragons had. The Squires maintained that lead through much of the second quarter, but Argos was able to score the final four points in the half, closing the gap to 31-23.

The Lancers led by a tentative 15-13 margin at the first quarter break, but the home team went on a 36-4 tear over the next two frames en route to its third straight win, a streak that started with a big double overtime victory over Mishawaka Marian last Tuesday.
