PLYMOUTH â€” Gladys M. (Mrs. Herschell J.) Umbaugh, 94, of Plymouth, passed away at 5:10 p.m. Monday in the Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
She was born in Missauki County, Mich. on Feb. 2, 1919 to Julia D. (Firestone) and Horace E. Bailey. She was a resident of the Argos and Plymouth area most of her life and graduated from Argos High School with the Class of 1937.

PLYMOUTH â€” Grace M. Woodfill, 100, a resident of the Catherine Kasper Life Center, Donaldson for the past six years, died there at 7:40 p.m. Monday.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol Ann Johnson, Sue Ellen Milligan, Mary Grace Oakes, and Jean Lynette Marshall.
Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 18 from 3 - 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Services will be held in the funeral home Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m.
The IHSAAâ€™s 76th Annual Boys State Swimming Tournament will kick off tonight at 20 sectional sites around the state.
Culver Military Academy and Plymouth will be among a 13-team field at the Warsaw Sectional preliminaries, while Bremen travels to compete in the 10-team field at Penn. Both meets are slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
Swimmers will be vying for one of eight spots out to the finals or one of the next eight berths out to the consolation round Saturday at 1 p.m. Diving prelims are also slated for Saturday at 9 a.m.
INDIANAPOLIS â€” Oregon-Davis graduate Scott Blum will be inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Silver Anniversary Team at the Hallâ€™s annual banquet March 20.
The Hall of Fame banquet will take place at the Primo Banquet Hall at 2615 National Avenue in Indianapolis. There will be a reception from 5 to 6 p.m. ET followed by dinner at 6 p.m. with the induction program set to get underway at 7 p.m.

Starr shines on PUC Senior Night
Plymouth product Alex Starr saved her best for last as she notched a career-high 45 points to help lead the No. 23 Peregrines past No. 16 Olivet Nazarene, 121-113, on Senior Night at Purdue Calumet Wednesday night.
Starr had the hot hand for the Peregrines from the start, scoring 17 of her teamâ€™s first 24 points as PUC built up a double-digit lead in the opening seven minutes of the game.
The PUC senior and PHS grad finished 15 of 27 from the field with five trifectas while eclipsing the 1,500-point mark for her career.
Knox woman jailed on murder charge

STARKE â€” Police have jailed a Starke County woman, Kathleen Holt, 51, for the Feb. 13 shooting death of her boyfriend, Ron Worker, 46.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at 1740 S. 550 E. in Knox.
Starke County Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene after Holt reportedly phoned 911 to say that she had shot Worker.
